Take a 2nd Look

The Fortiers are said to have no family ties to Ayla, but they may play an important role in this case.

1. When Ayla was born, Raymond picked her name. He was ready, willing, and able to start a family with Trista at that time. Trista jumped into the relationship with Raymond because she wanted that family so badly. Justin having Ayla posed a direct threat to this "family" and Justin and Trista's "relationship" posed a direct threat to Trista and Raymond's courtship.

2. Justin was told in the beginning, BY TRISTA, that Ayla was NOT his child. On the opposite side of that, one has to wonder if Trista ever told Raymond that Ayla IS HIS CHILD. It's been said that Trista only reached out to Justin AFTER Raymond was incarcerated, in part because she had to go to the state to ask for welfare. I guess during that process, you would have to name your child's father. The timing of this part of Trista's lie story is interesting.

3. Raymond Fortier appears to have had a very close relationship with his mother. I mean, the family who BURNS DOWN APARTMENTS WHILE PEOPLE AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE INSIDE together, stays together. Right?

4. If Raymond was told he was the father, wouldn't that make the Fortiers de facto grandparents? Did they bond with Ayla, or spend time with her during that first 16 months when Justin was absent? I can only guess, but I'm sure they spent time with both Ayla and baby Ray. Even if Raymond was not told he was the father of Ayla, he was told he is the father of her brother. Perhaps the Fortiers saw them as a single family unit; Ayla wasn't separate, she was just as much a part of them as the other baby.

5. How did Raymond Fortier and his family feel about Ayla being taken away by strangers, then subjected to abuse at the hands of these strangers? How did Raymond feel about Justin verbally abusing Trista and withholding her child from her? Basically, would the Fortiers have motive to "intervene" in what they saw as a bad situation for Ayla?

6. Justin did say, "you are not her parent. You may think what you're doing is right, but it's not" or something to that effect. I have no idea who that was directed to, it could have been the Fortiers, any of the Reynolds, or even a DiPietro for that matter. But it does make sense when looking at the Fortier family.

7. One cannot overlook the close proximity of the Fortiers to the DiPietros.

8. One cannot overlook the extensive criminal history of some of the Fortier family members. Everything from arsonists to sex offenders.

9. Raymond Fortier has his hands tied from prison. Anything he wants done, he has to trust that someone else will do it. He may have very well been upset with Justin and/or the situation. He may have very well figured out how to handle it, and gave orders to execute his plan.

10. Given all that has come out during this case, Trista still visits Raymond Fortier in prison. Even though she could not get a ride to Ayla's vigil, she managed to get a ride to see her boyfriend in prison.

What say you all?

Note: I will continue to be sparse until May 31. I approve comments as often as I can, but beyond that, I'm not sure how much I'll be able to post. Who's looking forward to summer break?!!! MEEEEEEEE!

  1. Here's a question from Africa.

I live in Africa. In Africa we have houses that have locked doors, locked windows, burglar bars, security alarms, electric fences, 4 meter high walls around them. We also have a lot of criminals. Our criminals have no problem bypassing all of this security and entering your house at night while you and your family are sleeping. They steal wallets and cellphones off the nightstand right next to you without waking you up, and then leave the same way they came in with TV's, computers etc in hand. Quietly. In the morning you wake up to find that you have been burgled, and that you have slept through the entire thing. No fingerprints, no mess, no fuss. This is fact here in Africa.

I have seen photographs of the DiPetrio home. It has absolutely no fancy security. No wall around it, and from what I can see what appears to be no burglar bars on the windows and doors. I imagine no alarm system. So why then is it so difficult for some people to believe that someone could have come in to this unsecured house at night and taken Ayla without waking up the rest of the sleeping family? Not all criminals are messy. Honestly, from what I can see, for a criminal this would be a real simple thing to do without leaving a trace.

    1. Quiet burglaries happen all the time in the US too! It is extremely common here. I personally know two people in different towns whose homes were robbed while they were sleeping in their beds. What puzzles me is why LE in Maine would take the position that a quiet entry into the DiPietro house could not have been made. That is just phoney baloney.

Trista Reynolds had been inside the DiPietro home to visit with Ayla. She knew the layout and could have shared that information with any number of people. The DiPietros were known not to lock their doors. For someone to enter into that house and snatch Ayla would have been very, very easy. Now think of who had motive to do just that!!

    2. Will Ayla Come Back With A Canadian Accent?5/14/12, 1:16 PM

Trista did ask Justin if she could take Ayla to the prison to visit with Raymond. Justin refused, apparently on the basis that he did not want his daughter exposed to that type of environment. Can't say I blame him.

But Trista's desire to take Ayla to see Raymond in prison does suggest that Raymond had some sort of close relationship to Ayla.

    3. Evangeline, I thought the DiPietros said they didn't know if the doors were locked or not. Maybe that was only Phoebe who said that. If they routinely left the doors unlocked, wouldn't they have assumed the doors were unlocked? May I ask how do you know the DiPietros were known to leave their doors unlocked? I suppose that would discount the Linell boy having a key theory. Why would Elisha bring up the unlocked window if an abductor could have simply walked in the door?

      Eve,
Assuming there was more than one person there, taking Ayla someone could walk through the door, go to Ayla's room, hand Ayla out the window to someone, and either crawl out the window and close it behind them, or close the window and go back out the door. That's where my thoughts are in regards to the window, anyway.

So, did Trista complain to Ray that she couldn't bring Ayla to see Ray bc of Justin!? Did Ray, who is stuck in jail grow angry with Justin? Could he, who is already a convict...aka already been proven guilty due to* facts* and *evidence* in a court of law, have felt the need to indirectly control this situation?
Trista already lost her fiancé to jail, was apparently losing Justin to Courtney, and now losing Ayla to Justin was the straw that broke the camel's back? Jessica is already a hater, I mean, the whole picture has been painted and the pieces are coming together, and all I see on the scale is Tristas side of the scale weighted down with motive...anyone else see this? Not making accusations of who, just a lot of pure motive on one side. Where is motive on Justins side? Let's just continue logical thinking...for sake of Ayla.

  2. If Ray called someone from a prison phone the jail would have it on record. If they dont record calls in there, they listen to them. And I doubt he could have kept the conversation quiet enough during a visit for no one to hear.

Anon from Africa, you are correct. I've had personal experience with this in Mexico as well. And, it would take a professional to do what they do in your community. Here, walking into a possibly unlocked home (therefore not forcing an entry) taking a baby from her bed just steps away and exiting is so easy to do by anyone with even a few hours of planning. What does it take? Being quiet. Knowing where her room was. Not much else. Whether or not it was done professionally (meaning by someone who has had experience) is the unknown to us right now. There should not be a question to *if* it could happen, and I don't understand why people believe it is out of the realm of possibility to happen. It could happen, it has happened to others, and one day we will all know that it *did* happen to Ayla.
Second, I have for quite a while thought who outside of Trista wanted Ayla away from Justin? The list was small, either Jessica or Ray. Does that mean they had a direct hand, no, but indirectly? Very possible. I'd be happy to know if LE were spending time questioning Ray. It is there duty, regardless of which direction they believe they are going in, to follow up on *all* angles. They wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't question Ray, Ray's family, and any possibly connections to who visited Ray in prison or to whom he has communications with inside prison or through the internet. That should, and hopefully is, their practice for the sake of Ayla alone. I would think with all LE knows about Trista, and her time spent after Ray was incarcerated, would allow them the upper hand in fueling their investigation with Ray. Again, it is their duty to be thorough in *all* directions, not just the one they appear to be viewing.

  4. Anon you also don't have the same standrads used to obtain evidence as here in the states. Poor comparison.

    1. Anon's country doesn't have the same standards to obtain evidence as here in the states? WTH does that mean? Is it not illegal to enter into someone's house, whether walking through an unlocked door, or forced entry?

Yes, it is very possible, and it does happen, all the time, in the United States, and it is a crime!

      Your comment is inane.

  7. The whole idea of someone NOT being able to get into and out of an unlocked house without waking anyone doesnt pass the straight faced test. Just ask any teen who has managed to sneak out/in without waking parents. Ask any parent who has risen in the morning only to find her toddler or preschooler was roaming the house at night and leaving a trail of mess. All without anyone waking up. Been there, done that, know it happens. No negligence just part of life.

    3. Exactly! It still is baffling to me and the friends I discuss this case with. We have NEVER seen any law enforcement agency be so ridiculous as to imply that it is NOT possible for someone to have walked into that house without waking anyone up!!!!

In fact, what makes it even more outrageous that they'd say it is this is a multi-adult house. Meaning, When more than a couple of adults who are *not* a couple live in the same dwelling; they all tend to acclimate to the noises and such of other adults milling around at night without getting up to see what's going on. Everyone knows that! When we heard that the police were acting SHOCKED that anyone would think it possible for a kidnapper to walk into this house without rousing anyone we just shook our heads in disbelief. It really is unbelievable.

This poor baby. Before they ever find her she'll have forgotten who she is and have no memories of those that cared for her in her earliest years. No one has memories of life before two. :( So horrible.

You know..seeing that he works for Maine's DHHS?!?! He may not be related to Trista, but who knows! Becca has been a Reynolds..Hanson..Tucci..Haskell..

Actually Peter Hyatt has some connections to the family. And there was that DHS worker that was let go right after this case started. She was working with Trista. And for the record those who think Phoebe had a relative or friend in DHHS that is not true. Only people with connections appear to be the Reynolds. How does Peter still have a job? Does the Maine DHHS system allow it's employees to spout off about the very system that they work within? Apparently so. Because he does and the people within it!! Doubt me? 4. Yes, Peeter is connected to the Reynolds family. which he certainly would never have told all his followers, and they roundly accepted his determination of Justins "guilt" in the first week of Ayla's disappearance. Seamus is the name of his dog, O'Riley is the last name of his second wife. You'd think all those sleuthy people of his would want to get right on this...

Why was it so important to him to turn Ayla's father into a victim right away? Why did he sweep all talk about Trista right under the rug until months into the case? Only after everyone was in resounding agreement with him did he start to hint at maybe Trista not being a great mom in the first place. Eventually said some nasty things about her just for good measure, since her flawed background is undeniable to even the stupidest among us... and then he had the nerve to go to Jeffs blog and mention other people "attacking" Trista. I wonder if he's deleted his late to the party blogs about her already?

Maine is full of dumb asses for letting a guy like this be a DHHS case worker supervisor. Corruption, corruption, corruption. When will you guys get to the bottom of all this MSP? Methinks Peeter Hyatt needs a polygraph. And you should start with asking him what he thinks about the system and how hard it is to remove children from undesirable (non christian) homes.

So they are basically saying that she was engaged to Ray, sleeping w/ Justin, not able to get to Waterville to visit Ayla even though she could get to visit Ray. And wanted to bring Ayla to visit Ray all while hoping that she and Justin could be a real family. Yeah that makes sense <<sarcasm implied

  11. I know someone can enter a home and leave while the occupants are asleep, without leaving evidence behind, and or not being heard.
Don't know if their door was locked or not, or what kind of locks on the doors.
If you live with other adults you are most likely use to hearing others walking around at night.

I'm giving some thought to Ray Fortier.
There's a lot to consider. I'm not sure when his & Trist's relationship started, but it was before Ayla was born, how long ??
I know he was into drugs.
I know he set fire to an apartment building, because he had a disagreement with a tennet there.
I know Trista had to know that he did this, as he was out on bond (I guess) from March of 09 to Aug. of 2010. (Trista was 3 months preg. with baby Ray when he went to prison)
I don't know anything about his family, other than his mother was arrested for arson as well.
Some relatives of his live close to Waterville.
I'm thinking about all these things, and the fact that Trista still sees him.
I hope that MSP have questioned Ray,

    ReplyDelete
  12. Bring Ayla home5/15/12, 9:46 AM

Well let's hope MSP have *thoroughly* questioned Ray, and not just made the stop to say they did. We say hope b/c at this point we are so completely out of touch with their investigation, that all we can do is hope they are being thorough. The angle of Ray and his family is a very viable possibility. Just as much as any other possibility should be thoroughly investigated as well. That's how detectives who do their job *correctly,* by investigating every and all angle thoroughly, come to conclusions. Not just a conclusion for the sake of solving a crime on their watch, but truly solving a crime for the sake of the victim and for the truth to be known to all. We are in a day and age where people will not just sit by and watch. We are thoroughly investigating every angle too. We just happen to be more public with which angle makes most *logical* sense. So far our direction has been guided, not by hard tangible evidence, but by facts and putting the pieces together of Ayla's life and those surrounding her. I truly do not believe this was a random abduction. Random abductors don't walk in through the front door, they would be more likely to be consistent in committing a crime with a point of entry evading the front door, through the child's window, etc. Someone who thought they were doing Ayla a favor by removing her from what they perceive to be a bad situation -or- from someone they believe to be a bad person wouldn't necessarily believe they were committing a crime to harm her, yet going above the law to make something right in their eyes. Maybe someone who has had experience with the law not favoring their choices. Believing they are above the law....who would that be? Hmmmm....once again it's a consistent pattern of specific people. Just following the pattern, not making accusations. Otherwise, the direction MSP would be following would have to be one of a cold blooded killer. Have we seen anything consistent with that type of person? Actually, no, not of a cold blooded first degree type. Ray, however did endanger the lives of all the residents in the apartment complex by setting fire to the apartment building while families were innocently sleeping inside...all as revenge against someone else. Interesting angle, right?

    1. 8:00pm: AYLA is tucked into bed. Justin Courtney and Li need to fill in what they did before bed and what time they finally went to bed. Did Justin and Courtney go upstairs before they went to bed to get drinks, bathroom…whatnot.
    2. 3:00am: A neighbor’s dog barks, a car is heard pulling up, Gabby stirs and Li snuggles her close and drifts back to sleep.
    3. Between 3:00 and 6:00am someone sees people leaving the yard with something wrapped in a blanket. This is a tip. Two black men and a woman wearing fuzzy boots.
    4. 6:00-8:00am Grampa Ray must leave to pick up Trista…unless he was already at Trista’s motel room. It was early morning when Trista’s relative said she saw Trista with AYLA.
    5. Trista is on the road between 8:00 and 10:00 to go see burn boy. IF Grandpa is already there, they may have been on the road sooner to where ever their destination was. Note: all three: Trista, Jessica, Grampa burnboy have an interest in AYLA and have motive to go get her.
    6. 8:00 Justin finds AYLA missing.
    7. Between 8:00 and 8:50 AYLA is franticly being looked for. Phoebe is called.
    8. 8:50am Justin calls LE.
    9. LE looks around from 8:50 and 11:00 something. They call S.Portland PD to look for AYLA at Trista’s.
    10. 10:00 am LE searches Trista’s room where Jess stayed the night. Somewhere between 10:00 and 11:30ish Trista finds out that AYLA is missing. From either Jessica or Ronnie Sr.
    11. Ronnie Sr. is called around 11:30…he gets in touch with Trista then.
    12. She is sleeping on the ride to Burnboy. She is so tired that she needs sleep. No alibi is known to the public. But it would involve her sister. IMO I don’t know what time Trista finally made it to Waterville from where she was but is said she went through Waterville and then to Portland to go with Ronnie back to Waterville but I have heard several scenarios with this.
*Time from where she was when she heard AYLA was missing and getting to WTVL is important.*

    1. So we have Lil Ray’s daddy who thinks that AYLA is his. He actually names her, AYLA. This dude likes to burn buildings full of families.
    2. We have his parents who treat AYLA as their Grand daughter , because Trista has lied to Burnboy and them.
    3. We have Uncle Michael the child molester, who thinks he is Uncle to AYLA.
    4. We have Grammyburnboymomma, who told burnboy to burn down an apartment building with families sound asleep.
    5. Burning down a building takes a certain type of person. That person was brought up by certain types of people. If Grammyburnboy has the morals and character to tell her son to burn down a building with babies in it, that is important to a case where a baby comes up missing. Uncle child molester has no morals. What does that tell you about this crowd? This family?

We have two families with huge mental instabilities. They have NO regard for the law or people in general. They are willing to burn babies to death for Pete’s sake! Trista wasn’t on her meds. Did the others choose not to take meds?
This btw is just a scenario, as have been all my other posts. My personal opinions of what could have happened. I believe this is VERY possible.
We have motive, proximity, craziness, opportunity…Its all there. Between two families AYLA can be hidden almost indefinitely.

    Chain of events?
    1. Burnboy gets locked up by LE.
    2. Trista has no money and goes to DHHS.
    3. DHHS goes after Justin for child support.
    4. Justin says fine but I want a blood test
    5. Blood tests prove Justin is the father.
    6. Trista has to tell Burnboy that AYLA isn’t his.
    7. Burnboy is pissed at Trista and Justin.
    8. Burnboy tells his family.
    9. Burnboys family is pissed.
    10. Trista goes into rehab and plans with Justin for him to take AYLA.
    11. Jessica is pissed off at DHHS, CPS, and Miss Small.
    12. Jessica brings a lawyer to a meeting that she has no business attending.
    13. Justin is given AYLA over all of them.
    14. Trista cries on Burnboys and his families shoulder.
    15. Everyones pissed off at Justin.
    16. Plotting and planning etc etc
    17. Trista is sent to Court to get rights and responsibilities for AYLA. This is done so that once AYLA is in her possession Justin can do nothing but partition the courts for her back.
    18. Grampa Ray could have gone after AYLA himself or with Michael…Could have been Trista, Jessica, Grampa Ray, Michael, GrammyBurnboy…who knows? But IMO, These are suspects for this scenario.
    19. Who ever took her, ended back up at the motel room in order for an alibi and to see burnboy with the good news.
    20. I believe they intended for Justin to take a trip down there but instead he called LE.
    21. Trista takes off to visit Burnboy with Grampaburnboy. With or without AYLA. There is plenty of time to drop AYLA off anywhere. Trista also begged Justin to let her have AYLA to visit Burnboy.
    22. Jessica knew about LE looking for AYLA at 10:00.
    23. Jessica very well could have contacted Trista and would have to let her know LE was looking for AYLA.
    24. Trista and Grandpa had plenty of time before they went to Ronnie Sr.
    25. How many hours expired between 10:00 and the time Trista got to the WTVL PD??What time did she get there??
    26. Because LE didn’t stop Trista in route…did they give up an opportunity to find AYLA? If the car was never searched was more evidence lost?? The motel wasn’t searched like Phoebe’s house.

What is the big deal with letting us know his/her identity. If im way off base on the initails then why doesnt he/she say so. Could it be because im not. This blogger has no problem stating his/her opinions regarding the case. As that is all they can be since as they claim to not know either party. I don't know anyone involved in this case personaly, but I know quite a bit of information about the people involved. Most everything I've read on here can be found on the internet.
Some information and things writen about here comes from other blogs & websites ...which by the way .. are writen by family members and friends of persons involved in this case. Do you think that they twist or misrepresent facts in this case?
Also as you stated, other things are just opinions. All of the blogs & websites offer their opinions and theories, yes? Don't you feel that it is helpful to look at all possibilities and all persons??

Do you think that MSP reads this blog? Do you think that the topics & comments on this blog will effect how MSP conduct their investigation?

I would not worry about me relentlously harassing this person as that is not who I am. Yet they have harrased other bloggers which I find is unnecessary as we all want the same thing. AYLA FOUND AND THEN TO MAKE SURE THOSE RESPONSIBLE GET WHAT IS COMING TO THEM. Stating your opinion on the case is one thing. To bringing people who just want to help keep Ayla's name out in the public and start harassing them and there families is wrong. What does that accomplish? Why not work together to figure out what happened instead of fighting with one another? Seems to me that more would get accomplished this way than the course that this blogger is going on right now. Which just seem to be spreading hate and discontent to an already divided community and state etc.. JMHO I will not be going else where as my opinions are just that and they are not nonsense. I just dont believe attacking someone for having one is helping anyone at all. You have yourself a good night now.
