FBI: Not Useful in This Case

Tuesday, Dec. 20---DiPietro releases a statement through Waterville police saying he doesn't know what happened to Ayla. Investigators drain a section of Messalonskee Stream to look for clues, and they examine garbage bins, garages, backyards, ball fields and wooded areas near the home. FBI Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team canvasses Waterville neighborhoods. Police say "it's still a missing-child case" and report that they've received more than 100 tips.

CARD Teams are primarily involved in non-family child abductions, ransom child abductions, and mysterious disappearances of children. They work with state and local law enforcement to protect and save the lives of innocent children.

So when you say the FBI came and left, that does NOT mean that this was not an abduction. It means that this abduction does not fit the scope of abductions they typically handle. They probably determined early on that a stranger had no involvement, and any abduction was set up or carried out by Trista or one of her family members.

    So now we know what types of cases FBI CARD teams stay involved with. Can you tell us what types of cases the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit gets involved with since they're the ones handling this case? I'll give you a hint: major investigations including homicides, suspicious deaths and child abuse cases.

      Exactly Anon! Also I know some of the stuff and briefings that went on for the grid Search and Rescues. They are NOT looking for evidence of kidnapping or abduction of any kind. They were told what to look for. I KNOW that. I know of a person (out of many) that was emotionally spent aftet being told what to look for, searching, and then finding nothing.

      Ruby32, you need to be aware that what you were told, if that is what you were told, is not irrefutable evidence of a murder, and it is not an open and shut case against Ayla's father. Get a grip. If that is what you were told, then that is the direction they took. And maybe it was the right direction but maybe it wasn't. Law Enforcement doesn't get every case right, as evidenced by the many cold cases and wrongly convicted citizens.

    You seem to keep forgetting LE said that there was not an abduction. Not "there wasn't a non family abduction". Just - there was no abduction, period. You seem to be heated these last few days.

      Do you have an LE statement declaring no abduction? I would very much like to see the source of any vested statement, especially by local police, if you have one.

      I know about McCauseland's straight-face test comment. That is not sufficient, and the MSP comment seems out-of-line to me. Is there any other legal objection to an abduction having taken place?
