Parental Abduction

*This is a lengthy post, and it is not my intention to bash anyone. I have provided links, feel free to click on them!*

I know some of you are under the impression that law enforcement has explicitly said that an abduction did not occur. That's simply not true; Stephen McCausland has said:

"Abduction is no longer a part of this investigation. We have grave doubts that an abduction took place and there is no evidence to support it," Stephen McCausland, spokesman for Maine Department of Public Safety, told Newscenter 5.
“We’ve followed every conceivable piece of evidence that would follow their version of events, and we have found not one piece of evidence that supports an abduction,’’ he said.
“There were three adults in the home, and their version of events is not backed up by any forensic evidence that we have located,” McCausland said Saturday afternoon. “That someone slipped into the home in the middle of the night, while three adults are there ... that someone went into the bedroom where Ayla was sleeping alone, removed her and vanished into the night – and that the three adults did not see or hear anything – doesn’t pass the straight-face test.”
As you all know by now, I'm free to speculate as I please. In this post I want to talk about the very abduction that did not pass the official "straight-face" test. More specifically, I'm going to address the profiles of parents who abduct their children. All of the profiles can be viewed at the link, for issues of time and space, I will only discuss the most pertinent ones here.

Profile 1: When There Has Been a Prior Threat of or Actual Abduction

When a parent has made credible threats to abduct a child or has a history of hiding the child, withholding visitation, or snatching the child from the other parent, there is great distrust between the parents and a heightened risk of further custody violation.

When other risk factors are present, one or more of the following are general indicators of an imminent threat of flight with the child:
  • The parent is unemployed, homeless, and without emotional or financial ties to the area.
  • The parent has divulged plans to abduct the child and hasthe resources or the support of extended family and/or friends and underground dissident networks needed to survive in hiding.
  • The parent has liquidated assets, made maximum withdrawals of funds against credit cards, or borrowed money from other sources.

Two things about this profile. Trista did not let Justin know that Ayla was his until she was 7 months old, and she did so only AFTER her fiance was sent to jail on arson charges. She even had her fiance, not Justin DiPietro, pick out Ayla's name and Ayla's umbilical cord was cut by her grandmother. One can only guess whether or not she would have let Justin know that Ayla was his if her fiance didn't end up in legal trouble. She has given conflicting accounts as to why Justin was not involved: he wanted her to have an abortion, she didn't tell him so that he wouldn't force her to have an abortion, etc. I consider this withholding visitation; you don't have to agree.

Speaking to the Daily News, Reynolds said DiPietro sent her a text message days before Ayla disappeared stating that he was worried someone might take her. She said he had made similar statements in the past.
“He always thought that I would be the one to take her,” Reynolds said. “I always wondered why he was so scared about that … I never went to get her because I thought she was okay and well cared for.”
Why would Justin have that in his head? Remember, we are only getting one side of the story. We also know that Trista is outright lying when she says she thought Ayla was okay and well cared for. She herself also talked about how Ayla would return from every visit with Justin, and something or another would be wrong with her. Instead of wondering why Justin thought that, why didn't Trista just ASK?

Profile 2: When a Parent Suspects or Believes Abuse Has Occurred and Friends and Family Members Support These Concerns

Many parents abduct their child because they believe that the other parent is abusing, molesting, or neglecting the child. These abducting parents feel that the authorities have not taken them seriously or properly investigated the allegations. Repeated allegations increase the hostility and distrust between the parents. Parents who have the fixed belief that abuse has occurred—and will continue to occur—then “rescue” the child, often with the help of supporters who concur with their beliefs, justify their actions, and often help with the abduction and concealment. In a large number of cases, the child has been previously exposed to neglectful, endangering, or violent environments (e.g., domestic violence or substance abuse). In these cases, the courts and child protective services may have failed to protect the child and the concerned parent or family member

This doesn't even require that much added detail. You can read about abuse allegations, and Trista's threat to sue DHHS, here, here, here, here, and here. A video of Trista's 'Today Show' interview also reveals that Ayla was only placed with Justin because DHHS "violated" Trista's rights.

Profiles 3-5

Probably not applicable to this case, but check them out at the aforementioned link.

Profile 6: When Parents Feel Alienated From the Legal System and Have Family/Social Support in Another Community

Many subgroups of potential abductors feel alienated from the judicial system. Listed below are five such subgroups.

Subgroup 1. Parents who are indigent and poorly educated lack knowledge about custody and abduction laws and cannot afford the legal representation or psychological counseling that would help them resolve their disputes. Those parents who have extended family or other social, emotional, and economic support in another geographical community may be at risk for abducting their children.

Subgroup 2. Many parents cannot afford and are unaware of the need to access the court system. In addition, those who have had  prior negative experiences with civil or criminal courts do not expect family courts to be responsive to their values or their plight.

Subgroup 3. Parents who belong to certain ethnic, religious, or cultural groups may hold views about childrearing that are contrary to the prevailing custody laws that emphasize gender neutrality and the rights of both parents.

Subgroup 4. A mother who has a transient, unmarried relationship with her child’s father often views the child as her property, and her extended family supports this belief. Many of the women in this subgroup assume they have sole custody of their child and are genuinely surprised when they are informed that the father—by law in California and most other States—has joint rights to the child.

Subgroup 5. Parents who are victims of domestic violence are at risk of abducting their child, especially when the courts and community have failed to take the necessary steps to protect them from abuse or to hold the abuser accountable.

In this video, Trista talks about knowing Ayla was hers and that she didn't have to share her with anybody if she didn't want to.

Common to all profiles: (1) Parent dismisses value of other parent for child, (2) child is very young or vulnerable to influence, and (3) abductor has family and social support.

Other things I found interesting about parents who abduct their children:

  • Records from the Documentary Study showed that about one-fourth of the abductors did not operate alone in the act of abducting. Many abductors relied on a network of family and social support to carry out and maintain the abduction. The Interview Study found that a significant proportion of abductors (almost three-fifths of women and two-fifths of men) received moral support for their actions and practical help in planning the abduction. The network of supporters provided money, food, and lodging and was willing to conceal the whereabouts of the child.
  • In the Interview Study, abducting parents frequently alleged that child protective services and family courts did not take their complaints seriously or failed to conduct a thorough investigation. (Makes me think of Trista talking about how DHHS failed to perform background checks)

This is all my own opinion as applied to a study carried out by the US Department of Justice. Please keep the comments fairly decent?!

UPDATE: NO, I do not necessarily think Trista is holding her somewhere. The purpose of this is to look at it from ALL sides, different perspectives, outside the box. I haven't ruled anything out in my own personal theories, and have said before that there's an 80% chance something happened to her in the home, BUT there's still room for other possibilities. Thanks.

Wow. So what is your opinion concerning WHERE Ayla is being "held" since it is your opinion that Trista took her? And do you think Trista has been secretly visiting her during this time? I mean, she couldn't handle not having Ayla so much that she kidnapped her, so she definitely has probably been visiting Ayla at the secret location where Ayla's being held, right?

    1. There was a tip or a rumor that the two had been seen together...hmmm

    2. It's not a rumor, it was reported to LE, Jeff Hanson himself said that Trista had been interrogated about it.

    3. So, it's a rumor that it's a rumor that the rumor about her being interrogated was a rumor?

      Delete
    4. You don't report rumors to the police. The police interrogated Trista because somebody reported to the police seeing her with Ayla after she disappeared. Point. Jeff Hanson himself said that Trista was interrogated about that last week.

    5. There have actually been more than one tips regarding Trista being seen with Ayla. The one Jeff Hanson speaks of is the most recent.

    7. Ron Reynolds said it was not true that Trista had been seen with Ayla, but he did say that the police interrogated Trista because somebody reported seeing Trista with Ayla to the police, that is why they interrogated Trista. Re-read his post.

You can choose to not take into account what LE says, and make your own determinations. but in doing that you have lost the right to use *some* of what they say or insinuate to bolster your hypothesis.
*You can choose to believe what the police say as truth, and you can even choose to exaggerate the implications if you wish, but you can't also discount the things that they say that put a dent in your hypothesis.

  8. Does anyone understand this quote from Trista and could explain it? It comes from the link included in the blog entry.
I can't read this without concluding this chick is pure and simple nutz!

"Trista said her goal to have children intensified at age 15"

When i was a 15 year old girl, I couldn't wait to grow up and live MY life.
A 15 year old girl who's GOAL is to 'have children'?? err..That doesn't sound right? Is she a mormon?
And why did her GOAL intensify when she was 15?
This case is too far out to fathom!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That doesn't sound all the awkward to me. Maybe she was experiencing her first love and looking toward the future? Women think like that, I don't think a 15 year old boy would be saying the same.

      Delete
    2. That quote refutes the 'we all make mistakes' theory that Trista is impregnated by a fluke.
She set out with the intention to become pregnant. She says it was her GOAL since she was 15!
Please correct me, but most 15 year olds are DISCOURAGED from thinking about becoming pregnant, not ENCOURAGED? Why wasn't it Trista's GOAL to travel or go to college? Isn't that what we wish for our children? Who wants children making more children?
Maybe in pillbilly world where generations suck at the welfare teat?
      Disgusting!

      Delete
    3. maybe I don't understand why that matters. I am not even someone who believes that Trista should be excluded from this investigation the way that she has been. But. I find the comments about whether she wanted to have children at a young age to be a sad representation of the kind of person who thinks that what they think is the only rational thinking. silly right? Just because you encourage your children to want to go to college it does not mean that they may not deeply desire kids. I get so annoyed when I realized how many people are this fixed in their thought processes. I ALWAYS wanted children, and as a teenager I definitely couldn't wait to be an adult and have children. I finished high school and went to college, all while still deeply yearning to be a mom some day. And so luckily I fell in love early and had my children soon after. During my youth people in my life seemed to appreciate my love of children and I was encouraged to do all of the babysitting and volunteering that I did. But was not encouraged to have sex and make babies as a teenager. What is your comment about, bifocals? And what gives anyone the right to sit here and talk about whether she intended to get pregnant or not? What is going on...where have i landed? Are we talking about a missing baby and where she could be or are we talking about a (then 23 year old) womans morals with regards to getting pregnant? And I'll repeat that I'm not convinced that she is as clueless about who has her daughter as she says she is- but this part of the conversation is nonsense.

A "tip or rumor," huh? I wonder who started that rumor, or who called in that tip? I would be willing to bet any amount of money that Trista has NOTHING TO DO with her baby girl not being here anymore. LE is working behind the scenes, quietly building their case against one or two people. They most likely even know what happened to Ayla, but don't know where they/he hid her little body.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You do not NEED a body to bring charges. Period. Do you know how long a person can be locked up before it actually is time for them to go to trial? Sometimes it can take years.

If they know what happened to her, then it's irresponsible to leave the people who did something walking the streets freely. Leaving these same people around other children.

I really think law enforcement knows some things, but if they knew exactly what happened to Ayla, they wouldn't be waiting to find a body.

      Delete
    2. What if they only have one chance to put him/them on trial and want it to stick so finding a body (god forbid) first would maybe saal the case rather than trying to go on a smaller amount of evidence. Not disagreeing with you, just thinking.

      Delete
    3. Possibly but something else that might factor in is whether they think they are going to find a body/ what kind of leads they have. They could be waiting for the spring thaw in the hopes the body will be uncovered before deciding to go with the harder to prosecute case with no body.

  11. Why did Justin text Trista (from what I have read on multiple occassions) telling her about his supposed worries about kidnapping??? THIS IS BIZARRE!!! Unless Justin can provide one logical reason why he was legitimately fearful of Ayla being kidnapped, then it would seem logical to assume that Justin was premeditating Ayla's disappearance.
Keep in mind also, Justin had refused to let Trista see Ayla and talk to Ayla on the phone for some period of time, so it would seem he fits Profile 1 (WITHHOLDING VISITATION).

    2. Sorry--I replied to you down below instead of attaching it to your comment.

      Delete
    3. I'm sure he does have a reason. And keep in mind...you're basing refusal to let Trista see or talk to Ayla on Trista's claims, not on proof. Trista did not arrange to visit Ayla in Waterville did she? Did she try to see Ayla and show up and was it refused? And if she called 12 times a day was Justin required to talk 12 times a day? If Trista requested him to drive an hour and a half to portland to accomodate a visit, was that a requirement? No. And what does any of this say? If the conjecture is accurate, it says this: That Justin had no legal obligation to entertain any or all the phone calls that may or may not have been made according to Trista. That justin may have talked to Trista more than she says, as in one of his very few interviews he states right off the bat that this initial untruth is indeed provable and that he's provided his phone records. It says that Trista might have had reason to be very frustrated and might have felt inclined to just go take her daughter back. This does not seem like a stretch. I don't think that it's something any average mother would necessarily do, but it is conceivable.

    4. Trista's text messages October to Christmas would clear this up.
She won't publish them because she has lied about her communications with Justin.
AAAAND because they show Trista in all her full blown cRazY.

Trista's response to Justin's 'alleged' text worrying that Ayla 'would be abducted' is key.

Trista was more concerned about Justin stopping her child support checks than she was about Ayla's condition. Her texts will show that, won't they Trista?
Just look at the facts. Trista never bothered to check on Ayla and did not speak to her for at least 25 days when Ayla had a BROKEN ARM and by her own words, she suspected Ayla was being physically abused.
Trista claims she was free to reclaim Ayla on October 22nd. Why didn't she immediately rush to get Ayla if she was so worried, (as she now claims), that Ayla was being abused?
How can Trista fans breeze right over these FACTS?
How do they explain Trista's obvious lack of concern for her baby?
Guess what, Trista won't explain it and her fans try to sweep it under the rug while screaming about Justin.

What mother would leave her little baby for 25 months in a suspected abusive situation and do NOTHING?
      Answer: A Trista Reynolds Mother.
Let's see those texts Nov 24, Thanksgiving Day!
      What were Trista's priorities?
Her texts will show all her claims are pure BS.

In the meantime, how many times did Trista visit her incarcerated baby daddy? How many times did she speak to HIM between October and Christmas? Had she bought his Christmas present yet? How much money has she put in her 'fiance's' commisary account? Where did she get that money??
Christmas was 8 days away and she had not even seen her baby for almost a month?

Did she already know she would not see Ayla for Christmas? Surely, Trista would have been texting to make arrangements for Christmas custody??
Her timeline is a joke. A manufactured fairy tale with gaping holes in the skimpy dates offered.
Take a look at the latest interview Trista gave. She isn't 'keeping Ayla's name out there', Trista fans! Just read the title of the video:
      "Trista Reynolds Discusses Media Attention"
      NOT
Trista Reynolds prays for a break in the case..Trista Reynolds begs for her child to return.
      NOPE
Trista Reynolds is angry about Ayla's Angels holding a vigil without clearing it with her and she isn't happy with comments about HER on the internet.
THAT is what Trista wanted to talk about!!
NOTHING ABOUT AYLA except she HOPES Ayla will see her face on tv?
      GMAB!
Trista can't even squeak out tears, she is so obviously phony!
She manages just one tear on each side and purposely does not wipe them away, POOR ACTING!
Anyone else notice the Trista fans aren't linking up that interview anywhere? They don't like it either! It gives them goosebumps and prickles their hackles because they see what EVERYONE can..a mother whining about HERSELF and completely cold about her missing baby daughter!
It is all over FB how Trista plans to make big bucks suing the State, Justin and writing books and movies..GOOD LUCK to you Trista! Milk it for all it's worth Trista and keep listening to that great advice you are getting from illiterate cyber vigilantes. It is reallly helping us to see YOUR priorities!
Publish the texts Trista. If you are telling the truth, then back it up with some FACT instead of your crappy acting and finger jabbing.
Oh, and get off the internet and put in some job applications at your nearby fast food joints, they are hiring! How long are you planning on sitting around in a free hotel whining about your bad luck? Are you attending AA meetings daily?
Parental Abduction works both ways, either parent could have sold Trista or squirreled her away. The text messages will blow this case wide open. I wish the police would release them because I know two faced Trista won't!

    5. who's to say she saved the texts?

the problem with this post and so many others is the black and white thinking.

neither parent was perfect and neither was the epitome of good or the epitome of evil.

trista has said she was giving justin the benefit of the doubt, trying to work with him. he hasn't said what his mindset was so people speculate.

and if the text messages are so telling and so available, why hasn't justin released them.

what is really important is that 911 call. now if the police would release that....

    6. It doesn't matter if Trista saved the texts, because the police can obtain them from cell phone providers with correct paperwork. Cell phone companies have special departments that work with legal issues for this purpose.

Your correct that people are thinking with far too much black and white theory and not enough gray. Anything, and I mean anything, could be the case here. Neither parent and neither parent's family were perfect leading up to Ayla's disappearance or following.

Justin released all his phone records and information to LE very early on, and the police do mention it in the first few days during a press conference.

And... since there were three adults in the house that night, LE wants to make sure they charge the one with murder that actually did it and the other two with various other charges. ie withholding evidence, staging a false kidnapping etc.

She uses internet slang on Facebook but she is college educated and can type correctly if need be.
In Feb. 2011 she was 25 years old.
Her Mother is a Grandma at age 46 ( not sure if 46 is her age now, or when she became a Grandma).
She has been in the military and perhaps still is.
She has posted a picture of her daughter and her nephew on line.
She thinks 18 months old is a bit early for potty training.
She can drink 2---12 ounce beers and 2 hours later be perfectly fine to drive again.
She lived in Killeen, Texas in Oct. 2011 perhaps still does.
Her daughter is biracial (B &W)
She has commented on the cases of Darlie Router, Nidal Hassan, Haley Dunn, and Baby Joshua.
She is not a betting person but would bet her house the parents of Baby Joshua are not involved. She says the guilty person in Baby Joshua’s case has not had any scrutiny in the media and makes her po’ed that Nancy Grace would cover Courtney Roberts, but never once mention the name of “family friend” who left baby Joshua’s house that night and refused to take a poly.

    1. You're REALLY trying LOL... I don't know who you are describing, but the only things accurate is that I have flown on those airlines, and I fly to NJ (The Villas/Cape May) every year. So the last time I flew was actually 6/8/11 and I will fly again on 6/6 of this year and return on the 13th.

I have served in the military and as far as Nidal Hassan goes, my only connection there would be that his civilian attorney and I have crossed paths in court. Those cases you mention are all TX cases, but the most I've seen of them is in the news or local sites.

  18. If you look at the status quo before Trista went into treatment, Trista had Ayla living with her; Justin occasionally visited; there is nothing we know of that suggests either party was unhappy with that arrangement at that time. Trista was concerned about injuries but not to the extent that she tried to stop Justin from seeing Ayla.

Nothing changed when Trista went into treatment if we believe the only statement we've heard, from Jessica, saying Justin was okay with Ayla staying with her.

When did something change and why? Oct. 17, four days after Trista went into treatment. What suddenly made Phoebe and Justin go get Ayla? There's a huge info gap here and it's probably critical. Everyone was content, nothing overt that we know about happened, and suddenly whammo! Justin and Phoebe get DHHS to tell Jessica to turn over Ayla, then get the Lewiston cops involved. What motivated this change?
    ****
Moving on... Justin gets Ayla and refuses Trista access. Within a short time, he even refuses her phone contact. And then, poof, Ayla is gone.

Which parent is refusing the other access? Justin is refusing Trista access.

    ***

Both of them were dependent on others; neither was truly homeless and neither was living like a self-supporting adult. They both had emotional support systems in the area where they lived. As far as we know, neither had threatened to abduct Ayla.

    ***

There did seem to be a dispute over who was going to have primary custody in the weeks before Ayla's disappearance, but Trista was not fighting that until Justin denied her access altogether.

    ****

Justin's paranoia about someone taking Ayla is very typical of a control freak/abuser. I'm sure FBI profilers will be considering angles like this.

      Part 1:
If you look at the situation before Trista was told go to treatment and kick the addictions or jail: Trista had Ayla and R. Jr. living with her usually in a motel room. This is not an accusation it is an observation. She has asked Justin to sign over his paternal rights and this can be verified with whoever has access to her case files at DHHS. Additionally she did not tell Justin that he had a daughter; he was informed when he was called in to take a paternity test and establish paternity so that the state could have him pay child support. He started working his way into Ayla's life at that point, at the age of 23, and was often "scheduled" to see Ayla only to find that Trista wasn't there when he called or arrived. When he could see her it was almost always on Trista's terms, and her lifestyle was by all accounts NOT conducive to a positive environment for a child.

      ********
Trista didn't seem to have any actual concerns about injuries to Ayla, and the two incidents discussed (bruises- possibly from chuck-e-cheese; and a pulled leg muscle) have only been stated as having happened on Justins watch by Trista's family. There is no telling whether the bruises were anything significant, as toddlers often take multiple tumbles a day at the age of ONE, and there are no pictures to use as reference. It could be an over-reaction on the part of a mom who has a volatile nature. The pulled leg muscle has been described as having happened on Justin's watch, by Trista only, and she says that he admitted it did happen while with him. He has not stated that it did happen with him, and what we do know is that it was 3 days before any one of the Reynolds decided to make a doctors appt. for it. Despite both of those things, Trista never reported anything or took a picture. On the contrary, when Trista was to go to treatment in October, she told Justin and agreed that Ayla should stay with him while she got herself straight. She left her daughter with her sister and instructed her to let Justin come pick her up.

      *****
Justin called about picking Ayla up and was told by Ayla's aunt that Ayla was not going to be handed over, so DHHS was contacted and the L.P.D. arrived to help him retrieve his daughter from the aunt who had already had her own two children removed and placed for adoption. The real question is, why is Trista allowing misinformation about that, when she knows that she agreed Ayla should go with Justin; and has said as much in live television interviews?

      Part 2:

      *****

Moving on...Justin is caring for Ayla and happy about it. He knows that Trista still does not have a permanent residence or a stable lifestyle and that less than 2 weeks isn't long enough to kick a pervasive drug/alcohal addiction. As a father this is a concern. Trista could at any time have driven up to Waterville to see her daughter, right? Why didn't she? Why do people keep saying that Justin was keeping Ayla from Trista if Trista can't provide one piece of evidence that she ever arranged to come and get Ayla for a visit? And additionally, the only word we have to go on about phone calls being received comes from Trista. There are call logs of their frequent calls and texts. Only she is able to tell the public that they didn't happen. This is not refusal of access to their child, it is spin. But if it is the truth, then of course legal proceedings should have been undertaken at that point. Instead, nothing on that front is done by Trista until December the 15th, 2012

      *****
Equating Trista's living conditions and lifestyle with a man that has left his apartment of his own free will to move to his hometown and have a family support system while he takes courses he needs for a new job to support himself is illogical. Trista has a history of living in squalor and sub par conditions as a general lifestyle and had not yet made active changes. Justin had his own place and moved in with family as many people have always done, and very often in their 20's, especially during a down economy, to get financially set and had only been there for a matter of a few months. Not the same. Don't equate them. Not that it matters in the case of a missing child. Just pointing out that your observations are spin.
      ********
If there was a text about fear of abduction, then there was certainly reason for it and I, for one, am interested to know what it was but I can't make judgements about it if I don't know why (or if) that was said. I imagine it was not mad ramblings and that possibly there were family members (using the situation with the Aunt as an example) who were angry that Justin had Ayla and may well have said so in not nice and possibly threatening ways. I would like to know.
      ***
Again, we do not know that Justin "denied her access altogether" but we do know that if Justin did not want to hand Ayla back, as the law stands in Maine he did not have to. But there is not proof that he denied any access to Ayla and it's just her word on that. Again, show the gas or debit card receipts that she traveled to Waterville to see her at any point. I don't think any sane person can say that the father has an obligation to take a day and drive down to Portland so the mother can have a visit. And if there was an ominous text about fear of abduction, the reasons for that text could further add to the lack of sense in taking Ayla there if there was a chance he might not get her back. From a situation he might not have thought healthy for his daughter. Just an observation. The details out there and the tv interviews say it all.
      ****
When is a fear that something like an abduction warranted? And when is it paranoia? and who is doing the differentiating? I am sure that the FBI isn't involved anymore and that they should be.

    4. Anon 7:54 is this speculation? Do you know this information first hand? Where do you come up with Trista being threatened with jail? That's never been said in any public report. She was threatened with loss of custody of her kids.

How do you know what's in her case files at DHHS? And what does it matter if she asked him to sign over paternal rights when he didn't want the baby? Maybe that feeling changed over time so maybe he didn't want to sign over his rights but her asking makes sense if he wanted her to have an abortion.

What do you know of her living conditions and logs of their calls? Have you seen these things with your own eyes?

How do you know whether there was a reasonable fear of abduction or not?

    5. Even if it is speculation, and I don't think it is, it's pretty close to the truth. Bring back the FBI and find Ayla!

  21. From the website about Jaycee Dugard: Looking for Jaycee
Carl Probyn (Step-Father) a Suspect for a long time.
There were massive manhunts for Jaycee and her captors. Police went door to door asking questions of Tahoe residents in the area of the kidnapping. There was a hotline for people to call in tips. I once heard a psychic say that she saw Jaycee's body in a graveled area.
Carl Probyn, Jaycee's step-father, was a suspect and says his life was "Hell" for many years because many people thought he was guilty, including some of his family members. There were rumors that he sold Jaycee into slavery in Central America to pay off drug debts. Law enforcement dug up the yard of the Probyn's South Lake Tahoe home looking for Jaycee. He was the last one to see Jaycee before her disappearance. He took several lie detector tests. A lengthy police investigation turned up nothing and his name was cleared but suspicion remained. The long ordeal broke up his marriage.
Along with Jaycee, we also see Elizabeth Smart who's father was also a long-term suspect. More recently we see Breeann Rodriguez who's parents were both suspects and were both told that they failed polygraph exams as well as being told that police had evidence that the parents did something to her.
These are not the only cases that exist out there - these are only examples of how quick the police can be to jump on the parent being the only suspect scenario.
Sometimes, things are truly not as they seem.

    1. I'm confused about what the point of figuring out whose blog this is. Is there a point? What am I missing about how this helps to find the missing kid? Finding out the blogger identity does that how? Or is it just another exercise in people having too much time on their hands and too few guiding principles?

I know, that's nonsense, but they are obviously not into rational thinking...

  23. I'm glad I'm keeping an open mind about this because I have almost gone 360 which never would have happened had I fixated on one thing.
The more I think about it, the more abduction fits all the puzzle pieces.
People keep harping on abduction having to be like a James Bond maneuver, but that's just not the case, an abductor would not require moves like Jaeggar. The door was (said to be) unlocked and a car WAS reported by neighbors in the middle of the night noisily coming and going while a dog barked.
I KNOW Ayla left in that car, that I have not a shred of doubt.
Did she leave alive or dead?
Who drove the car and who carried Ayla?

  25. Was assigned this as my written thesis and was glad so many like you and many others are aware and have really in depth knowledge of such an issue. The world would be such a better place if all of us can spread the word. Prevent and stop parental kidnapping. Cheers.
