Fact Checking

Saw this over on the other blog

“I had been advised that by coming on and doing an interview by law enforcement that it could possibly hinder the investigation, and I’m here to help in any way I can.’’ (No law enforcement has ever backed that statement up. Fact is, to the contrary. They want to know why he is not being forthcoming, why he is not seeking his missing daughter? He has never scheduled a single event for her. Volunteers have. Not Justin.)

The bolded portion is an outright LIE. Since I am here to STOP the LIES, I will go ahead and show where law enforcement did, in fact, back that statement up.

Steve McCausland: Let me clarify that. Um, very early on in the investigation, in the first couple of days, we asked the principals involved not to speak to the media until we had a chance to talk with them firsthand. And they've all cooperated, they were all interviewed, and then I think there was a misunderstanding on their part that that was sort of like a permanent ban on talking to the media. It is not. We informed both Justin and his mother last night, both of which who have cited in some recent broadcast, uh, reports that police had asked them not to get into any details. Uh, we have clarified that with them, that we encourage them to talk to the media. Um, to keep this story of Ayla in the headlines. What better people to do that than her immediate family? And, we are encouraging all of the family members, both here in Waterville and in southern Maine, to keep her story in the forefront, and to keep her name in the headlines. I hope that has clarified that aspect.

  1. Thank you.

I doubt that the person who wrote that will thank you though.
I had remembered either hearing in a PC, or reading in an article, that Justin and others were advised by L.E. not to talk to the media about certain things concerning the investigation. I didn't remember when that was confirmed though.
So it was confirmed by S.M on Jan. 11.

  2. Some more of the bs in that blog (which I think was originally on SA)

    >“By coming here, it was in hopes of reaching out to the person (singular) that does have my daughter to let them (plural) know that what they’re doing isn’t right,’’ ----- Oftentimes people use the plural pronoun when they don't want to (or can't) identify the gender of who they are talking about.

”I just want my daughter. I’m doing anything possible that I can to get my daughter home. It feels like a hopeless situation at some points, but I’m doing what I can.” (Justin “lost hope” in the first few weeks. Contrary to his Aunt Selena’s statements that he has never lost hope. He publicly exclaimed “it seems hopeless.” Why?)"----- Do we have to go back a whole sentence and read what he actually said? "It feels like a hopeless situation at some points" does not equal "it seems hopeless."

">At 8 a.m. on Dec. 17, DiPietro went to check on her and found she was gone, officially reporting her missing at 8:50 a.m. (Who waits nearly an hour to report a toddler missing? Why didn’t he phone Trista, her mother, and ask her if she has Ayla? That would have been one of the first things ANY parent with a missing child would have done. Why didn’t he? Why wait almost an hour to call 9-1-1?)" ----- I don't know if the times have been confirmed. I think the "phoning Trista" has been covered ad nauseum. If he thought she kidnapped Ayla why wouldn't he leave it to the police to sort out? How would he know what phone to call her on? How come Jessica knew at 10 am, but Trista didn't get a call until 1130?

">Investigators say a kidnapping did not happen.

    >On Jan. 28, Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland said investigators believe that Justin DiPietro, his sister Elisha and girlfriend Roberts aren’t telling police everything they know about Ayla’s disappearance. He added that investigators hadn’t found any evidence to support a kidnapping, that the scenario that someone snuck into a small house with three adults inside and took a baby doesn’t pass the “straight-face test.”----- "a kidnapping did not happen" and "investigators hadn't found any evidence to support a kidnapping" are not the same thing.

Re: Justin's statement inviting Nancy Grace to spend the day with him. A senior producer flew out instead. Presumably, that person is not also Nancy Grace.

Re: "Never seen hanging posters again." does not equal "never hung another poster again."

Re: " Has never established, himself, any reward funds, fundraising or events to aid in the search for his missing child"----- Has the Reynolds family established a reward fund? There have been 2 vigils in the Waterville area arranged by a DiPietro or a friend. Didn't Lost N Missing organize the birthday vigil?

Re: "Did not attend the Birthday Candlelight Vigil for his daughter’s second birthday, while over 130 strangers from various communities showed up to show their support. Her own father did not attend, nor did any members of his family" ----- again, discussed many times... why would they? and why would the Reynolds want them there?

Re: " He took out a life insurance policy on Ayla, and added it to his car insurance policy, did not tell her mother (Trista) and deceived her to get Ayla’s social security number"----- It was mentioned somewhere that Justin got Ayla's ss# from Trista in 2010, not in 2011. Derek has said Justin got a larger life insurance policy for himself with Ayla listed as the beneficiary.

    1. I think there is some confusion. Saying that something feels like a hopeless situation doesn't mean he has lost hope. When my baby feels sick and has a fever I feel hopeless and helpless. I haven't lost hope its just frustrating. Maybe that's a better word. Wanting to help and knowing there isn't really anything you can do to help or fix it for them. I think it shows he really loves and cares for her.

    2. There is absolutely nothing wrong in Justin having and / or obtaining Ayla's SSN. He is her father. Had Trista not made it available to him, all he had to do was apply to the S.S.A. for a copy of it. (with having proof that he is her father)

If it is true as Trista stated, that Justin tried to claim Ayla on his 2010 taxes, then he had to know her SSN as early as Jan. 2011, or late as April 2011. Long before Oct. 2011. So it makes no sense that he obtained the # from Trista specifically to purchase a LIP.

      Delete
    3. An even better question is who DID claim Ayla on their taxes for last year? Tax fraud? Trista doesn't work...hasn't for a long time...

      Delete
    4. It was agreed by both Trista and Justin that Justin would claim Ayla since he was the one who was working. Then I believe the answer to your question obscure may be that Becca claimed her. Not as had been agreed upon. And now Trista claims "Justin got the SSN under false pretense for the LIP. Trista knows that is not true. Again and again though Trista is making up stories to throw Justin under the bus. Why? I think the question should keep being asked. Why would someone keep trying to make another person look bad by lying about them? What is her goal and purpose.

Anon who said "It was agreed by both Trista and Justin that Justin would claim Ayla since he was the one who was working."

I've known of non-custodial, child support paying dads who claimed their children on their income tax, even when the other parent was working. I believe it was that the amount paid in child support was over half of what the mother earned. As Trista was not working why wouldn't Justin claim Ayla?

    6. @Space between
I am just stating what I heard was the agreement and why they decided it was the fair thing to do between the two of them. I agree that there is enough reason just based on child support being more than half of what the other parent earned. It just does not happen to be the reason they talked about him claiming her. The point is they did have a conversation and Trista knows it and it was they agreed upon.

Thank you for your inside info. I was agreeing with what you said as being reasonable to strangers/people not involved in this case. I don't know why some people are aghast at the thought, except, perhaps, that they like to be aghast about EVERYTHING.

A ss# obtained in oct would be for jusin to claim Ayla and add her as a dependant at that point and fewer taxes taken ut of his paycheck, he would be able to claim her when he filed his next tax return.
IF Trista claimed that justin tried to claim Ayla for his 2010 taxes it may be because he conveyed this to her and asked for the SS# at that point and trista said no.

    10. You don't need a social security number to change your W-4? That's the form you fill out at work to lower the amount of taxes that come out of your check...

I guess I'm not sure what you mean?

    11. unclear questions and answers6/19/12, 12:39 PM

Sorry, I was on drugs yesterday! He may have asked for her SS# in order to file the taxes and trista refused at that point because she knew that Ayla could not be claimed on Jusins taxes. Maybe that is why she said that he TRIED to file.
When he gained Aylas number saying that it was for a collage fund or whatever he used it for the LIP plus he culd have used it to add ayla as a dependant to lower the taxes out of his paycheck Wheather or not he could legally claim her I guess woulf bepend on how much time he actually had her full time out of the year, or if he paid more more than a certain percentage of her entire support for the year.

If he only paid $100.00 per month say that would not be enough percentage of her entire keep for him to claim her. If tristas sole support was State aid she would not be able to claim her either. At any rate I do not believe that he could legally claim her as a dependant. he did not have sole custody for ong enoough for that year nor pay enough child support. Paying back child support would not count towards his regular monthly payment. if he worked at a bar , small pub or sandwich shop I do not think his monthly payment would be very much as it is income based. SO, yes, you do need SS# to change your W-4.

      Delete
    12. You were on drugs yesterday? Are you still on them today? You DO NOT NEED A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER for the W-4. It's on file with your employer, there's not even a spot on the form to list dependent social security numbers.

      Educate yourself, please http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf

Anyway, if Justin didn't claim her and Trista couldn't claim her WHO DID? Nobody should have, and if they did it is tax fraud. Period.

Yup, you are right, justin would have had to be paying enough child support to cover half of the childs living expenses. Child support in neither taxable nor deductable. If he were to clain Ayla on w4 he would have needed her ss# in place in order to file taxes, why use her on w4 without having it? Trista would have had to agree on a form 8332 and if she did not then IRS would sort and have the final say.
      Yup, still on drugs today.

  3. I understand the point where yes, LE told them to lay low in the beginning. That does not explain, however, why they have since told him to keep his daughter's name out there and he just can't bring himself to do it.

    1. ITA, that message stay out of the press was for the first two days. LE has repeatedly stated since then for Justin to keep his daughters name out there, but he doesn't cooperate with the press. The articles always say Justin DiPietro was unavailable for comment. Makes me sick, and it shows he doesn't give a rat's a.. for Ayla Bell Reynolds, the daughter he just had to have.

      Delete
    2. Maybe other sources have advised him not to. Do people really believe that it is easier to allow the Reynolds, their friends and the public to tear him apart and ignore it? That it is easier to not go out there and fight back? Who in this world finds it easier to not defend themselves? In my experience taking the high road is always the harder thing to do. Trista and her family have a very long and shady past. Does anyone really doubt that Justin does not have the power to come out swinging? No he can bring himself to just fine. It is exactly as he has said. He simply refuses to. He will not. There is a a reason still for his daughters sake. And you and no one else has to believe that. Only Ayla matters.

      Delete
    3. I understand what you're saying about not engaging in a war of words with the Reynolds to appease an "unappease-able" public. I think it was probably you that said before that he doesn't want Ayla to look back on his actions and wonder why daddy behaved like the Reynolds. However, she may look back and wonder why he suffered slings and arrows in relative silence. I wouldn't want to talk to the media either. Although, as was suggested, he could use Elisha's recorder to put videos on youtube. He could say whatever he's been wanting to say. There is also merit in showing Ayla when she's older that it's ok to defend yourself.

      Delete
    4. Maybe he does not feel he has anything to defend. Because he did not do anything wrong. A very wise person always told me that those who defend usually have something defend.

It does not need to be all about defending! it is about getting ideas out there where the publics minds may be jogged and someone may have seen something. Do you want to defend? That or nothing at all? STOP thinking about yourselves!!!

bottom line, no mom of a missing child 'gives up' on her child within a matter of days.
JSTL has shown us the data on many moms of missing children..they NEVER give up!
yes, Trista told people right away that she believed Justin 'had done something' and 'Ayla was dead'.
    that is documented.
she was blabbing to all the rehabs..as usual..all about the TRISTA DRAMMA!
this behavior, (and much of what followed), is utterly incompatible with the behavior of ANY mom of a missing child..EVER!
Trista was hellbent on Ayla being 'dead' by a MURDERER.
Trista (wow, inappropriately and unprecedented in the annals of missing children), dances in the streets, eats cake and wears Ayla's missing button as close up cleavage prison eye candy.
why didn't she assume an accident had taken place?
why would she IMMEDIATELY start telling the world that Justin killed Ayla intentionally?
why did she jump on the bandwagon of this intricate plot script of a life insurance policy, drug running, who knows what other straws..why not just imagine an accident took place with a panicky cover up?
isn't that so much more likely?
there aren't very many people so sociopathic that they premeditate killing their own child for profit, (Trista's claim); there are way more people who eff up and try to conceal their mistakes..eh?
suspecting a former lover and baby daddy of murdering their toddler for profit is really something else when you think about it. why doesn't she think Justin stashed Ayla and it snowballed 'out of control'? or Justin was stoned and Ayla got into something poisonous or hurtful and died due to neglect/inattention?
isn't that scenario a million times more likely than plotting to kill your own baby for a measly 25 grand and having to engineer the situations just right? for real???

Trista gained over a hundred pounds during the winter months her child was missing. That is unheard of..there is NO other mother of a missing child who has EVER gained weight.
period...just 1 for punctuation, i aint looking for a long time relationship LOL...

Velvet Glove on JSTL makes me sick, she sure knows a lot of information about Trista. She wants to know how Trista would like moldy stuffed animals thrown on her lawn,I had no idea that the presents people brought for Ayla, were such a pain in their ass! If thats how you feel, Fuck you Dipietros.May the mold from those animals grow into your house ,People brought them to show Ayla Love support they didnt do it to piss you off,Why are you complaining about those animals? How do you know so much about Trista that wasnt on any blog or newspaper?

Velvet glove? really, your words are rants. Trista gain 100 pounds? Does not look that way to me. I think you are the fatty and green with envy.
You seem to excuse an accident happening with no medical attention sought out and and ensuing cover up along with wrongfull disposal of a corpse? Where is your mind at?
Did justin open Christmas gifts, did he eat a piece of cake, has he enjoyed a cocktail, has he smiled at a cute little child giving him a stuffed toy for Ayla, has he enjoyed sex with a woman, all since Ayla has been missing?
yeah, velvet glove, you seem to know that justins neglect (or rage) caused Aylas death and coverup, he will go down for one count, or two, or three. Thanks for the help. LE loves rants like yours especially coming from someone close to (in?) the family.

  5. Velvet this is your comment "she was blabbing to all the rehabs..as usual..all about the TRISTA DRAMMA!" My question to you is how do you know what she said in Rehab? Have you been there yourself, maybe you have been to a meeting a time or two!!! How else to explain you knowledge of what she may or may not have said. I doubt you would care to explain cause im sure this has fallen of deaf ears.

Where are the statistics with regard to a person NEVER gaining weight when having a missing child? You have stated this as a fact so im curious as to where you have found such information....

    1. Shaking my head too Obscure. Of course an accident and cover up is more likely, especially since the Trista Reyolds said she feared that as Ayla needed a lot of attention and was high strung. Maybe Justin was trying to sleep and Ayla got in to something, or he got mad and abused Ayla. But premeditated? Highly doubtful.

  6. Velvet, you seem to know it was an accident. Trista has always stated that if it was an accident, to just tell her. To give Ayla a final resting place and to start the forgiveness process. Put down your hate and tell LE what you know, before June 30,2012. God Bless you Velvet.
