Weird...this

Note
that alcohol is never specified or even mentioned...only that Trista
had a "substance abuse" problem and entered a "drug rehabilitation"
facility.
Yes...alcohol is a substance and a drug. I won't dare split hairs on
that point. But why not just keep it at alcohol detox or treatment for
alcoholism?
I don't know what to make of Lance's assertion of seeing the "whole"
Reynolds family smoking crack behind the restaurant. It doesn't play
into my opinions.
Re: the people who Ayla was exposed to. Well, Amanda Brenner is Ayla's

responded with something like "just put 2 and 2 together." I'll find
the post if you would like.

These pics are not new but I haven't seen them mentioned anyplace or if they were I don't recall. I found them online when Ayla first went missing. I do recall everyone, including Nancy Grace, was focused on Courtney's myspace account and plastered her pics.
ReplyDeleteI thought for sure these would have been removed, but they are still up for public viewing. I'm not posting them as evidence that Trista is still using. It does show her thinking at the time:
Note weird comments
"I was so f-ed up!!!
Her (ex?) fiance self reported that he was drunk, tripping, and had been snorting pills with his mom when he set fire to an apartment building. While that doesn't prove he was still using, or that Trista used - it is indicative of a familiarity with it, and it seems more likely someone will publicly admit to drugs if they are facing possibly 30 years in prison.
DeleteJanuary 09 arson
March 09 Ray arrested by US Marshals in Florida
July 09 Trista became pregnant with Ayla
April 10 Ayla was born, Ray helped pick the name
May 10 Trista became pregnant with Ray Jr.
August 10 Ray sentenced to 9 years in prison, 6 years probation - 95k restitution knocked down to 6k in recognition of his child support obligations
December 10 Justin took paternity test
http://www.journaltribune.com/articles/2010/09/01/news/doc4c77cdc10dbbb258608467.txt
I was wondering, if Ayla, it`s obvious she was probably killed, if she was killed in a drug-fuelled rage, the person who did it, are they just as guilty as someone if they weren`t on on drugs? Is there anything different like oh it was the drugs, and they`re OK, or what?
DeleteGRACE: Well, long story short, there`s no evidence drugs were found in Ayla`s home the night that she went missing, but now we have a drug connection with the sister, very disturbing. Very disturbing. But under the law, voluntary use of drugs or alcohol is not a defense.
PETER ODOM, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: But in the state of Maine, the jury is allowed to consider voluntary intoxication, in deciding whether someone was capable of acting purposely. In other words --
GRACE: Forming intent.
P. ODOM: Right. Exactly. It can reduce the level of intent. So it`s relevant but it`s not a defense as you suggest.
JOHN MANUELIAN, CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Correct, it could actually lower the charges to voluntary manslaughter, especially if this was done under the rage of cocaine or any other type of drug. It may buy him out of the murder case and bring him down to a voluntary manslaughter case.
Trista's own words in a text to Justin
DeleteTrista: U know just as well as i do if i was clean and not using I wouldn’t have had to go to rehab and ask u to take ayla.
"if i was clean and not using"......self explanatory.
what was she hooked on, becca's pain pills?and booze? is that why she was thrown out?did briana deal to trista?
DeleteI'm going to give Trista the benefit of the doubt with these pictures. We don't know how old a lot of them are and I partied a lot at 19-20 too. I'm sure a lot of people did. It only becomes a problem when she's still partying while pregnant and still partying once Ayla and Ray are born.
DeleteAnonymous 1:11...I agree.
DeleteDidn't Trista state she wanted to be a mother starting from the age of 15? Did she not see a conflict of interest in bringing children into the world with a desire to party as well?
In all fairness to Trista, I think she was probably clean or relatively clean during her pregnancies. DHHS generally takes a dim view on drug addicted newborns or those suffering from Fetal Alchohol Syndrome.
Trista has the right to be a party animal. She does not have the right to endanger her children with her lifestyle.
As Dee says, drugs/alcohol don't mix well with children.
Mckeekitty
DeleteIn all fairness to Trista, I think she was probably clean or relatively clean during her pregnancies. DHHS generally takes a dim view on drug addicted newborns or those suffering from Fetal Alchohol Syndrome.
______________________________________________________________
I'm just speculating here but Little Ray was only 6 months old when Trista was ordered to rehab or lose her kids. Could something like this be the previous dealings with DHHS to cause Trista to be ordered to rehab after one fight with her sister?
are drug tests mandatory in maine to get welfare. could she have flunked a test?
DeleteHmmm...good question. Never considered that.
DeleteI, too, am just speculating. But I think if either Ayla or Ray exhibited signs of addiction at birth, Trista would have been put on notice to get clean or lose the child. Here in MA, doctors don't fuck around with addicted newborns. They do not look the other way when a baby is born distressed from drugs/alcohol.
My sense (again speculation) is that Trista enjoyed the pregancy/birth journey, and likely took care of herself and her unborn child during pregnancy. Once a demanding baby came into the world, she may have been overwhelmed. Two babies in a one year period...
Anon 2:21
DeleteUnfortunately they do not require drug test to go on welfare in the state of Maine....maybe they should
oaklandrez
they cant , it's unconstitutional unless they have a felony drug conviction.
DeleteI can say from what i know for fact because a friend of mine went through this. She was a drug user and got pregnant. She went to a methadone clinic because she wanted to get clean for her babies sake. She took methadone her whole pregnancy being closely monitored by doctors. Her baby was born healthy but had to stay in the hospital for 4 days due to the possible withdrawal symptoms in the baby. After 4 days he went home healthy. The mom is still on a maintenance methadone dose and is monitored closely, but is doing great raising her baby. Just wanted to give a background of what I know
DeleteLots of pics with her with children. She loves children.
DeleteThe space between... Aylas Birthday is April 4th not the 10th. What other dates do you have wrong?
DeleteMy bad, I see now that what you wrote was the year not the day, sorry.
DeleteNp - If you'd like to verify the other dates, most of them are in the article linked.
DeleteOneannon...on this point I agree with you.
DeleteTo me, the photos of Trista appear to be those of a young woman having a good time. I don't see a photo of her snorting a line, inhaling from a bong, or guzzling from a bottle of Jack (and such photos are quite common on social media). I don't even see a cigarette dangling from her lips.
I am not photogenic. My eyes always blink shut with the camera flash.
In other words, I'm not reading much into the photos.
That said, Trista admits she had a problem to address.
Anyone know whatever came of the threats from Trista against DHHS?
ReplyDeleteReynolds says she called DHHS several times with concerns about her daughter — concerns she says were never investigated. And now, she plans to sue.
Trista says, “I’m going to go up against you and I’m going to fight you because I’m sitting here every single day wondering where Ayla is, what happened to her and why no one cared to check on her.”
Mother Of Missing Maine Toddler Considers Lawsuit Against State
' no one cared to check on her' she can add HERSELF to that list. what kind of a mother sits back and expects others to check on her daughter she sent to live with a father she claims was beating the shit out of her. please dont have any more kids.
Deleteshe agreed to his taking her,Ayla, there was an agreement. so who is putting these I'm gonna sue dhhs ideas in her head, jeff? she doesn't have a leg to stand on. she herself went to visit ray all the way up in Machias, but couldn't be bothered to check in on her battered daughter.
Trista was probably so f-ed up from Briana Roberts stash of drugs! She is a drug dealer after all. LOL

DeleteI really don't care what Trista's drug of choice was/is. She may have completed 10 days of rehab, but that is no guarantee that she's sober. I do care about her son's welfare, and hope that he's safe.
ReplyDeleteAddiction is a vicious disease, and an uphill battle to fight. I don't fault Trista, or anyone, for falling into the grips of the illness. But you don't toss small children into the drama.
Why is Courtney constantly being judged and implicated for the sins of her sister? I don't get that. I have a "fucked up" sibling that has been hooked on painkillers for some 20 years...not sure how that should reflect upon me.
SHE WAS NOT IN REHAB. she was in DETOX.
DeleteCourtney subjected her son Ayden to undesirable types by living in the same house where her sister was wheeling and dealing drugs at all hours. there was so much drug traffic the neighbors complained and thats how she got busted. WTF mckee, really.
Addiction is a horrible thing to deal with for the ones not addicted. Addicts lie, cheat and steal to get what they want, whether it be for money to get drugs, stealing other people's prescriptions or whatever other thing they can do to get their hands on that substance they are abusing. The families and friends of these people are subjected to many forms of abuse from the addict. I have dealt with a few of them in my life and have learned that tough love is the way, at least for me, to deal with the addict. I suppose someone could place some blame on Courtney for not kicking her sister to the curb...but really how that translates into Courtney being involved in her sisters illegal activities IDK.....
Deleteoaklandrez

As far as Ayden living with Courtney and Briana while Briana was dealing...why wasn't Ayden removed from the apartment by DHHS? Why wasn't Courtney busted for being complicit in her sister's crimes?
Perhaps you should take your issues up with the authorities. Do it for Ayden if you believe he was/is endangered.
Anon...Google "Trista Reynolds detox" and tell me what you find...
Deleteoak-no one said courtney was involved with the drug trade that was rampant in brionas apt. but she knew. everyone knew. courtney could have told her aunt who owned the building who could have asked briona to move out. courtney chose not to do that even though she had a small child who was put in harms way with all the junkies stopping by. so it looks like courtney will keep her mouth shut and defend criminals, even at the detriment of a small child. THAT is the point. she has quite the loyalty to other adults regardless of their behavior.guess kids don't come first with her.
DeleteI agree with what you said oaklandrez. In my opinion kids and drugs/alcohol do not mix in any way, shape or form. I've seen too much damage done by it, intentionally and unintentionally. Briana may or may not be an addict but she was arrested for dealing. Courtney and her son lived in the house with her. Courtney put her son in harms way by living there. If Courtney wasn't involved in Briana's illegal activities, and there is no proof she was, then DHHS might not have been called since her sister was removed from the home via her arrest. I don't know if Briana was released but if she was and IF Briana lives with Courtney again and is continuing to deal, then I have a problem with Ayden being exposed to the danger that comes with the territory.
DeleteJust like I have a problem with Ray continuing to be with Trista IF she is using again/still.
McKee - 10 days is not enough for rehab for either drugs or alcohol. I think they're calling it rehab but it was really detox with outpatient rehab to follow.
DeleteCourtney has moved out and is/was living with another sister. don't know if she was ordered to by DHHS or she did it on her own. briona is out on bail isnt she? anyone have access to the court records codis?
DeletePolice Seize Nearly 1,000 Prescription Painkillers From a Portland Woman
by WABI-TV5 News Desk - January 10th 2012 02:55pm - Read more Regional News
Portland - Maine police have seized nearly 1,000 prescription painkillers from a Portland woman they say was trying to sell them on the streets.
Police say 23-year-old Brianna Roberts was ordered held on $20,000 property or $5,000 cash bail after her initial court appearance on Monday on a charge of trafficking Oxycodone.
Maine drug agents and Portland Police arrested Roberts on Friday following complaints of suspected drug activity. A search of a home turned up 998 Oxycodone pills hidden on her body as well as 19 grams of suspected cocaine in a bedroom packaged for resale with an estimated street value of $1,900.
I have with me the affidavit as to the drug bust there at the home, 36 Pine. .
DeleteI`m taking a look at the affidavit of the drug cop that made the bust. . He finds 998 oxycodone pills, 15 milligram. Not only that, she volunteers, after Miranda, that she distributes oxycodone and cocaine, doesn`t personally use the drugs, but distributes them. A chemical field test is positive for cocaine. The penalty, up to 20 years.
Courtney was not living with her sister she was living in her own apartment. What part of this are people not getting.
DeleteIt was an apt within the SAME HOUSE.a multi fam house. same address, same parking lot, same common areas, same front door. but nice try. the kid was still subjected to danger from auntie briana wheeling and dealing drugs like m&m's. did she sell to kids, there was a school nearby.
DeleteHas Brianna Roberts officially been charged with a crime yet? We don't know what her crime was other than possession of drugs. She could have been a girlfriend holding them and not trafficking them. Still not okay and pretty stupid but was she herself selling them? Do we know this? I am just curious. I personally am not a fan of "convicting" without all the facts.
DeleteSo Courtney has her own apartment in an apartment building that her sister lives in. Again she lives in her own apartment. NOT with her sister. Not at all the same thing. Nice try.
Deleteanon 12;08 she was charged with aggravated drug traffiking. she admiitted to police she herself distributed them. read up.---she(Briana) volunteers, after Miranda, that she distributes oxycodone and cocaine, doesn`t personally use the drugs, but distributes them.
DeleteI can find the link to where she was arrested but have not seen the link where she admits to distributing them. Does anyone have a link to this is my question.
Deletehttp://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1202/02/ng.01.html
DeleteCan someone please direct me to a news article that has Courtney and Ayden living with Briana at the time of the bust? I read the CNN transcript. Where is it stated that Briana even had a roommate, let alone her sister and nephew residing in the same apartment? Nancy Grace just comes off as obsessed by Courtney's revealing photographs of her bulging pregnant belly.
DeleteI'm sure the DEA would put all the residents in that apartment through the ringer. Neighbors complained of drug traffic 24/7...any voice of concern that a young child was living there?
Reading the stories of the drug bust does not make mention of a roommate or co-conspirator. Not even a mention that Courtney and Briana are related.
So what if Nancy Grace has a photo of Courntey in the apartment with Briana? How does that prove that Courney lives there???? Couldn't Courtney just be visiting with her sister? Or are we to conclude that the purpose of the visit was to score some drugs for Justin to sell? Really?
I'm not the one splitting hairs re: detox vs. rehab. I just can't find the term "detox" mentioned. You can detox in a rehab.
Anyway, I would appreciate that news link of Briana's housemate(s)
at the time of her arrest. TIA!
There is no link because Courtney was not Brianna's roommate. Courtney lived in her own apartment.
DeleteI believe that Courtney lived in the same apt. house as her sister, not the same apt. Owned by a relative.
DeleteI can't find fault with that. She is a single mother, going to college, and I'm sure the rent was affordable. It may not have been the most suitable place, but people have to live within their means.
I give her a lot of credit. She had her own apt., I'm sure she was working, taking care of her child, and going to school.
Thanks to the Anon that pointed out that 36 Pine is a multiple-family unit. Seven bedrooms, 4 baths according to Zillow.
DeleteI guess if I lived next door to Bob Vear and he was my brother, I, too, would be a pedophile. Right?
S-what do you know about how courtney was paying for anything. ever hear of child support, food stamps, section 8 welfare, housing, parents as scholars free education for welfare moms. she was working a few hours per week because she was REQUIRED TO, to stay in the program.you give her a lot of credit for getting knocked up and having an illegit kid with a father she is at war with. nice mother. poor kid. another statistic at the hands of the selfish stupid youth in this country.
Deleterumour has it briana has a kid too. heaven help these kids.
mckeekitty10/19/12 1:37 PM
DeleteThanks to the Anon that pointed out that 36 Pine is a multiple-family unit. Seven bedrooms, 4 baths according to Zillow.
I guess if I lived next door to Bob Vear and he was my brother, I, too, would be a pedophile. Right?
----------------------------
some people are half as bright as an idiot and twice as dumb.
no one said courtney was a DRUG DEALER. jeez
it is unclear if the neighbors who complained of the drug dealing were neighbors inside the house or living in buildings next to or accross the street. can you imagine a strung out addicts looking for a fix in and out of the house at all hours. courtney is lucky her an ayden didnt get robbed or stabbed for a fix.
DeleteIt's been stated before they lived in the same house. I didn't take into account that it could have been a multi-family. I assumed they lived together to share costs when they had the same address. You know what they say about "ass-u-me". Therefore I'll retract my previous statement and say instead that since they lived separately it appears Ayden wouldn't have been in harms way daily from any of Briana's "associates" that might come in and out.
Delete"I guess if I lived next door to Bob Vear and he was my brother, I, too, would be a pedophile. Right?"
McKee - That's a leap. No, but you might know/suspect he was a pedophile if you saw kids who didn't belong there going in and out. Just like Courtney might have known Briana was dealing from the comings and goings. If neighbors knew, couldn't the people who lived in the house have known, or at least suspected?
Dee...we don't know if and when Courtney lived at 36 Pine. I did a reverse address search, and it shows that six Roberts reside at the residence, including Courtney and Briana. Is this the basis that Briana, Courtney and Ayden lived together? The same search shows that I continue to live on Martha's Vineyard although I left the island some eleven years ago. These sort of searches are very outdated and inaccurate.
DeleteI'm very uncomfortable with this conclusion that Courtney and Briana were in cohoots with drug dealing, and Justin was involved. To me, this is just another rumor to advance the witchhunt agenda.
For all we know, Courtney dropped a dime on her sister.
@McKeekitty: Briana and Courtney lived in the same apartment building owned by their mother Gessie. The traffic was so heavy with clients coming in and out at all hours, that the neighbors had to call the police and report the criminal activies. IF the neighbors knew, Courtney knew. Stop giving a free pass to Courtney and her drug dealing sister. I highly recommend you do a little bit more research on Courtney Roberts. She is NOT as innocense as she seems. You see what she wants you to see.
Delete" For all we know, Courtney dropped a dime on her sister." In order for her to drop a dime on her sister: She would have to know about the drug dealing. j/s Can't have it both ways, sorry. lol
This is all turning into hearsay. It is more of the same old same ole. No body has any idea whether "traffic was so heavy or if Brianna really even was selling out of her home. If she really even sold at all. I am not convinced of that based on an article from Nancy Grace. All we know for absolute is that she was in possession of drugs and was "charged" for trafficking. How about everyone waits to find out exactly what she is convicted of before we "blog" convict her.
DeleteTrista's brother Ronnie sold crack out of her apartment and her mother did crack there. So are you saying that confirms Trista is a crack head? And did Trista also sell drugs now or at least condone it?
Delete@Anonymous 6:31
DeleteBeing charged with a crime is not the same as being convicted. Has she gone to trial yet? I am asking. Because if not I will wait until I hear the conviction to make a complete judgement of the facts is all I am saying Pretty sure that it how it works.
pretty sure she has plead guilty and got 36 months prison time the last time codis was checked. have to see if I can find the record.
Deleteshe had 1000 oxy pills and coke on her body and found in her bedroom. she told the cops she dealth drugs but wasnt a user. there was no mention of a boyfriend living with her. nice of you to protect a drug dealer who was poisoning the community next to where little kids go to school.
oh, and she was re-arrested by the federal DEA.
I just like to have my facts straight has to what the exact conviction is. Unlike other people on these blog pages I am not going to state something as fact unless I know it is a fact. And then I want it to be the correct facts. These are real people not characters on a television show. So yeah I think that is nice and fair of me.
DeleteThe last time I looked up Brianna Roberts' case on pacer she had pled guilty on 7/12 with a plea agreement for 37 months in federal prison. She is out on bond until the actual sentencing hearing in early November, with the court acknowledging she is the primary caretaker for her ailing mother. She was selling drugs for a guy named Christopher Brichetto who was also busted but at some point in his case opted not to bond out and rather stay in jail as his case played out. Mr. Brichetto's father was also involved in the ring. Chris Brichetto has also pled guilty with a plea deal.
DeleteThe federal court documents imply the investigation was more focused on Brichetto, there was no mention that Briana was investigated due to neighbor suspicions. Caveat there being I'm reading the federal case - the state's case may indeed have been initiated by neighbor complaints.
Two things about the case documents were interesting to me. First, there is a supplement to Briana's plea agreement that is sealed. Of course I am curious if it has to do with Ayla's case and cooperation and testimony she may have agreed to provide. Second, why did Chris Brichetto not bond out and opt to stay in jail? I figure it could be either that he is safer in jail or that he figured he might as well get a jump on serving his sentence as he'd get credit for time served (and it's much less unpleasant being in jail pre-conviction than it is after conviction and sentencing, so he'd reduce the amount of time he has to serve in prison rather than as a pre-trial detainee in jail.)
It is my understanding the Pine Street address is a multi-unit home. I have no idea who lived in what unit.
Oh, and in the court documents for the federal case, a local cop working with DEA seemingly had a tap either Briana or Chris Brichetto's phone and heard Brichetto asking Briana to deal with his customers for the weekend while he was out of town or something to that effect. After Brichetto dropped of the drugs for Briana to sell is when she got busted.
DeleteBrichetto was busted a few weeks after Briana as he was picking up a drugs in Mass at a rest stop or something.
Wow, Scout. Thanks for all that in-depth information. Sounds like a complicated case.
DeleteI don't see the connection to Ayla. Not even remotely. Am I missing something?
Nope mckee, there is no apparent connection. Like I said, there's that sealed supplement to Briana's plea deal that makes me more than just a little curious, but nothing in the docket (last time I looked) shows there is any link to Ayla's case. I suspect the supplement is less than glamorous too - more likely related to co-conspirators not yet indicted than to Ayla.
DeleteMainly, I posted this information for the sake of the anon(s) who contend you can't convict someone before they're convicted, etc etc. They seem to think that because they are not aware of the details of the case, there must be no details to be aware of. That's obviously not true. There is no need to stand up for Briana. Briana has pled guilty and is officially convicted.
Thanks scout. Hear that Anon who was making excuses for this sorry ass dumb bitch dealing drugs while her nephew was nearby. She is a CONVICTED DRUG DEALER. DeleteThanks for posting info. I don't think that anyone thinks that if they are not aware of details the details do not exist. Sounds like Anon just wants to be fair and not judge without all the facts. I know I for one am tired of people doing that. And I agree with McKee not seeing what any of this has to do with Ayla.
on second look I'm not so sure. looks like brichetto, bri's supplier is close with the Haitian lamour family(originating from Brooklyn, NY) and courtney and bri. he and his father are part of a drug ring that get their supply from MA, from who, the mafia? there are always organized crime intertwined with the drug trade. so chris drops his stash off for bri to service his druggie customers while he heads to MA to get more drugs, bri just happens to live in a house owned by her aunt Haendel Lamour (@The_Boss207) ,who just happens to also be very cozy/friendly with chris.looks like chris has turned state evidence for a lighter sentence, wonder who he is afraid of to not want to get out of jail on bail??????
DeleteCould ayla have been in that house being watched by bri when justin was packing up his apt accross the street? did justin owe chris any money? did justin make any threats to squeal on chris?did he know about the drug dealing? did he tip off the feds? could any of his roomates have tipped them off using justins name? what was the real reason justin wanted out of portland and just decided all of a sudden to be a dad?was it a coincidence chris and bri were under surveillance around the same time ayla goes poof? did trista or her friends/fam ever get drugs from chris?
How much did the feds hear of any convo's between bri and chris and bri and courtney in regards to ayla?
on christmas day chris said to br on twitter-just throw it in the trash..

The Ring...No one is their right mind would make a threat to expose a big drug dealer. Are you saying justin may have not been in his right mind?
Deleteoalandrez and mckee, there is a huge difference between helping a family member who has a drug problem and choosing to live in the same apt. with a family member who is trafficking in drugs when you have a helpless baby living with you. Whether Courtney is into drugs herself or not isn't the issue. What is important is she chose to expose a baby to drug trafficking with all its dangers and a house full of drugs that could have killed him if he got into them.
DeleteDepending on how your windows are situated, living in an apartment you are more likely to notice what goes on with neighbors across the street or next door than in your own building, especially if you have no yard and/or reason to be sitting outside. I know I've lived in apartments before that I didn't know what was going on with the upstairs neighbors, but sitting in the living room I could see the next building down through the window. That said, it would be a stretch for me to believe that Courtney knew absolutely nothing about her sister's activities. It would also be a stretch for me to believe that Courtney has a substance abuse problem herself.
Deleteguess you never saw her fb pics where she is pounding booze like koolaid....

It must be nice that all of you have the money to pick up and move whenever you chose to but unfortunately not everybody has that privilege.

Have all the J4A groupies moved to our blog or what? They can not convince anyone of any of their theories over there so now they are moving on and coming over here to try some new theories here? Just when I think they can not get any crazier they do. And if you say to them maybe the mom ,who has a history of alcohol/drug and mental problems could have had something to do with it, they think that is absurd.
DeleteHow about sticking to facts. There is no record or proof that Courtney has any problems with alcohol or drugs. There is no proof that she is a bad mom. There is no history of any criminal records. There is no proof that DHHS has any involvement with her.
DeleteThere is proof that she consistently works at a good job, went to school full time, completed college, now has a full time job, and is supporting herself. Shall we do a side by side comparison to Trista?
where is the proof of her good job? link to the documents please.there are pics of her drinking heavily with her friends, especially the one in florida, wasted, doing shots. there is no criminal hsitory that you know of.there is no proof she is not recieving public assistance . the boston area where she lived with Bri while attending Curry College was infested with drug activity.
DeleteThe problem is that the U4A cult is racist and jealous of Courtney. Hey guys, Courtney is still a much better person than any of you will ever be.
DeleteWhile I don't like the atmosphere at U4A, I don't believe they are "racist and jealous of Courtney." They are primarily anti-DiPietro with Courtney and the Tudelas as their 2nd string.

DeleteEvery town is infested with drug activity open your eyes. It is however worse relative to population makes sense.
And how are there links of anyone drinking heavily? How can you determine the number of drinks someone has had by a link? Was she holding ten drinks in her hand? Maybe she had only two drinks for all we know. When sticking to facts that are relevant it means sticking to facts that we know. Simple as that. Unlike in Trista's case where the facts have in fact been confirmed. She was a heavy drinker. She herself admits she needs to get help for her problems. Trista we also know is homeless at most times or lives where ever she lands at the time. Trista is receiving state help it is how she lives. Trista and her family are involved past and present. I am not judging just presenting the facts.
Now if I wanted to judge I could add the facts that Trista often either looks like a two dollar whore dressed up for the cameras or looks like she is barely able to get herself dressed and ready for the day. And that my friend is opinion not fact.

I thought she was living with jeff and becca. you know otherwise?
DeleteTwice during his Today show interview Justin said he was reaching out in the hopes that the person who had Ayla would see. "That it was part of the reason I am coming on here today in hopes of reaching out to the person who does have her." How is that not putting out a plea?
DeleteAnd if any one family has shown hatred here it is the maternal side. I believe the paternal side has for the most part gone out of their way to not do any mudslinging and has not vocalized hatred.
Trista is no longer living with Jeff. Not sure that Becca was living there she had been living elsewhere before Ayla went missing. She tended to move from place to place.

In Maine, where funeral home use is not required by law, an informally-arranged funeral can cost as little as $250, the New York Times noted.
DeleteInsurance on Ayla's Life
The Huffington Post said DiPietro took out a $25,000 policy on Ayla's life. The payout is some three to four times the cost of the average adult funeral. Police allegedly told Trista Reynolds, Ayla's mother, the insurance policy was taken out within a week of Oct. 17, Trista said on her blog. Heidi Tudela, who identifies herself online as mother of Derek Tudela, State Farm life insurance agent who sold the DiPietro policy, confirmed the policy's existence.
What's Suspect?
* DiPietro never had a hand in raising Ayla. He allegedly saw her only five times from Dec. 2010 until Oct. 17, 2011 when he brought Ayla to his home. On Oct. 20, he agreed to return Ayla to her mother's full-time care Oct. 22, Trista said.
* Although the DiPietro-Reynolds agreement, said to have been made with DHHS input, called for DiPietro to care for Ayla for a total of five days, more than two of which had already passed, he purchased insurance on her life. He also reneged on returning Ayla to Trista, she said.
* Ayla suffered a serious injury within days of the insurance purchase.

(CBS) - The mother of missing Maine toddler Ayla Reynolds says the girl's father took out a life insurance policy on Ayla in the weeks before she disappeared.
"In the same week Justin took Ayla from me, he took out a life insurance policy on Ayla," said Trista Reynolds, according to Fox Boston. "Now, why did he take out that life insurance policy? I'm still trying to figure that one out myself. Because who takes a life insurance policy out on their own child?"
http://www.onlinesentinel.com/news/ayla-case-highlights-insurance-on-children_2012-02-17.html
The role of life insurance for children has emerged as an issue since Ayla's mother, Trista Reynolds, contends that she learned from state police that Ayla's father Justin DiPietro bought a policy on the child. Reynolds shared the information on www.aylareynolds.com, a family-run website. Ayla was 20 months old when she was reported missing Dec. 17.
The lack of information about the investigation into the toddler's disappearance has raised the question what role the insurance policy plays. State police won't confirm the existence of the policy and Ayla's father, Justin DiPietro, could not be reached for comment.
Child life insurance and a family lawyer are not alarming to me - I grew up with that around me. My cousins and I had life insurance from the time we were babies. "Back in the day" my dad's insurance man visited often. My parents, aunts and uncles each have a family lawyer. This has not been for any legal trouble, as I don't think any of them has so much as a parking ticket or a late paid bill, but rather for settling estates, making wills, real estate, etc.
Delete@Looking At The Facts
DeleteThanks I was actually pointing out just that. That the news coverage confirms that Trista was the one to release the ins information.

ReplyDeleteKJ Are you kidding? Interesting maybe but a public policy nightmare not to mention grossly unfair to child and family. As they say, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. What you're suggesting is that a vigilante could be rewarded for setting him/herself up as judge and jury and stealing other people's kid because they think they know better what the kid needs? I shudder just thinking about how short-sighted it would be to let such an arrogant interloper off the hook based on "good intentions." Not to mention, and of less importance obviously, how would the taxpayers who saw ? a half million of their tax dollars spent on an investigation feel about being duped?"
No Way.... Of course I did not believe that would or could actually happen, it was a "what if" or "wouldn't it be interesting" scenario. First of all, there is no way I would want whoever is responsible for Ayla's disappearance to get any kind of immunity, they should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
Secondly, it was merely a desperate "wishful thinking" that might see a healthy, well cared for Ayla returned to her family. If there was anyway Ayla could returned to her family, alive and healthy, wouldn't anything be worth that? Again, just what if.

whomever said this was a family lawyer pheebs had for awhile is a liar.
ReplyDeleteINNOCENT PEOPLE DON'T NEED LAWYERS.
WATERVILLE -- A lawyer representing the grandmother and aunt of missing child Ayla Reynolds said Monday his clients do not know the circumstances behind her disappearance.
Steve Bourget, a general practice attorney in Augusta, said Phoebe DiPietro, 47, and Elisha DiPietro, 23, retained his services in early January, a few weeks after Ayla was reported missing from their home at 29 Violette Ave. The DiPietros approached him to serve as "a buffer between the press and their personal lives," Bourget said during a phone interview with the Morning Sentinel.
Doesn't mean Mr Bourget was not their lawyer previously.
ReplyDeleteyes it does. learn how to read and comprehend.
ReplyDeleteNo it does not. He could have been their lawyer for other matters as well at other times. Maybe you should learn to not over read.
ReplyDeletefrom an exchange between Katie Hitchings and Heidi Tudela on Katie's facebook page:
ReplyDeleteHeidi Tudela -- It is not that black and white the police know that. Shame on them. They would not "show" him the results. I would have wanted to see the results myself. And they only explained parts of it. Secondly you do not pass or fail a polygraph It is evaluated one question at a time. So each question can be evaluated. For example Justin was asked "did you have any knowledge of Ayla's disappearance" He said "No" He may have been thinking in the back of his mind well except for I think I know who may have taken her. Which he does have some thoughts on that... So then the police can say Justin the way you answered a question on Ayla was "questionable" that is all they have to tell him unfortunately. But no one knows that or understands. So again I would want to see the actual results but they would not show him those on that Justin is absolutely correct. And Katie is also correct they can tell him anything they want in an investigation like this and have I have seen them do it. It is like watching a tv show!! We understand why they have to do it and so does Justin but the fact is they are still doing it so hard to believe what they say! They even came to him and told him Ayla was dead very sad. And of course it was not true. So there's so much more that I wish people understood.
Makes sense to me. Sounds like Heidi is explaining to Katie hypothetical situations when she says he may have been thinking in the back of his mind... Obviously Heidi does not know what a person is thinking. So she is giving an example of how a polygraph can be misleading and is not black or white. Exactly why they are not considered reliable or permissible in court.
DeleteAND Heidi knows this how....???????????
Delete'''They even came to him and told him Ayla was dead very sad. And of course it was not true. So there's so much more that I wish people understood.''''
and ofcourse it was not true that she is dead? How does Heidi know this?
DeleteLe does not know that Ayla is dead. They can say they "think" or "believe" she is dead, but they don't know! Without having a body to prove death, how do you come to this conclusion?
Deletesigned:getrealpeople
getreal - 3 cases come to mind, Christina Fesmire, Samantha Koenig, and Sierra Lemar - 3 men arrested for murder before a body was found. The difference being an arrest was made at the time of the announcement.
Deletegetrealpeople, police come to the conclusion someone is dead without a body many times. Forensics play a big part. If there's enough of Ayla's blood in certain kinds of patterns on Justin's basement bedroom floor, for example, her death would be a foregone conclusion. I am not saying there was, just using that as an example. What they found in the river could also play a role in their determination.
DeleteYou can hypothesize or reference other cases all you want, but the fact is, LE has never said they know that Ayla is dead.
Deletesigned:getrealpeople
If they truly had enough evidence to prove Ayla's dead, why haven't they arrested anyone?
Delete@Michelle: " When the time is right". Justin D.
Delete( they all will be arrested)
Michelle, it's not as easy as drawing a conclusion she is dead, deciding who did it and making an arrest. In a no body case, a prosecutor is going to want to make sure no stone was left unturned trying to find the body and is going to want to be sure s/he is as ready as possible to prove not only what did happen but what could not have happened (e.g., kidnapping) at trial. Assuming the theory is Ayla was fatally injured at 29 Violette, they have to be prepared to explain who did and also who did not, given three adults were there when she was reported missing. That's a lot of loose-end tying to do.
Deletewhy haven't they arrested anyone YET...? patience my dear, patience. just because the arrest warrant hasnt been served/issued doesnt mean it never will and sure as hell doesnt mean anyone is INNOCENT.
Deleteyes when the time is right, when the kidnapper pops out behind door number 3 and gets the immunity justin wished for....good thing justin is still paying on that kidnapper insurance policy...good thing.
they retained him--ie paid him a RETAINER
ReplyDeletethey approached him in jan----no evidence whatsoever of any prior relationship.
about the reference to the methadone clinic, a woman who transports clients to the Discovery House posted a comment on my first post that when she went into work that day there was already talk of Ayla being missing, well before Police were notified. The Police Blotter confirms that Police went there to interview people about this.
ReplyDeleteHeidi Tudela statement that Justin failed the poloygraph test because he knows who took Ayla
ReplyDeletePretty sure even Heidi Tudela would not know the results of anyone's polygraphs. You guys give her too much credit.
Deletejustin told her he FAILED.
DeleteNo evidence? What? Have you checked to see if Elisha was using Steve in the past as her lawyer? Or if Phoebe had ever used Steve for other matters? Do you a have access to their personal records? Many people have lawyers and do not actively use them all the time but RETAIN them for certain matters when needed. So maybe Elisha was also using him for custody matters. There was as we now know issues with her ex Linnell going on at the same time. Again we have no idea what exactly they retained him for. He may have just been asked to help them with the Ayla stuff since he was already working for them. We just don't know.

Deletemade sure he changed his appearance BEFORE he went on TV.looks completely different. this looks supsicious. looks like he doesnt want to get recognized.
DeleteHe doesn't want to be recognized! Really. He is appearing on national television and doesn't want to be recognized? HUH

I am for looking at things from all angles, which is why I don't think the Briana Roberts drug connection should be completely disregarded. When I say that, I mean: Possible connections, however, tenuous, between illegal activities and Ayla's disappearance (by any parties involved) should be explored. That DOESN'T mean, I think "Justin and/or Courtney did it", or that Ayla was sold or kidnapped by some big drug cartel.
DeleteAnyway, I think this particular insinuation (Justin changing his appearance in order to not be recognized), is utterly ridiculous. His appearance isn't very different from one pic to the next in the two links you posted. In one he has a full beard. In the other he has a goatee. I've known lots of men in my life who have grown a beard for "hunting season", then shaved it. For all we know, Justin was growing a beard in the fall (after apparently being clean shaven in the summer at the Air Show), then decided on "somewhere in between" with the goatee in mid-winter. OR not. Who cares? It's not really any different than Trista wearing her hair down in some pictures, and up in others.
"I am for looking at things from all angles, which is why I don't think the Briana Roberts drug connection should be completely disregarded. When I say that, I mean: Possible connections, however, tenuous, between illegal activities and Ayla's disappearance (by any parties involved) should be explored."
Delete_______________________________
That is the responsible approach, Fan.
Personally, I don't see a connection (hey, we all have a blind-side). I think Briana was just a drug-dealing fuck-up that got busted...and she happens to be Courtney's sister.
But keeping an open mind is key. Do you have a theory on a possible connection? I would be interested...
Weird - if Justin kept the beard that would have been deemed suspicious also (what's he hiding?)
Deletemckee - to me, the more questionable associations on either side - the more criminal and/or abusive and/or drug addicted and/or mentally ill people that Ayla came into contact with, the more the suspect list broadens.
she was surrounded by filth and dysfunction, many layers of it peeling outward like a decaying onion, no where to hide, no where to turn, no hope to breathe for.
DeleteI wish I did have a theory McKee. I don't. It just seems that connections to questionable and/or illegal activity spread far and wide and unfortunately to both sides of Ayla's family. What that really means, I don't know. I think it's a huge stretch to try to come up with some motive for Ayla's disappearance that is linked to Briana's drug dealing. At the same time, I think there is so much we (the general public) don't know about how ALL of these people are connected, and who knew who at the time Ayla disappeared, and who may have come into contact with her.
DeletePerhaps chasing down all the connections would minimally EXCLUDE some possibilities. I would hope that law enforcement has already taken that approach, but given the lack of information they've been forthcoming with, it's really hard to know. I would love to have some definitive statements from them that completely rule out "Burn Boy" and anyone connected to him, for example, and the reasons why. At least then we'd know they thought to look in that direction. Come to think of it, when the story of Briana's arrest broke, I do recall that Law Enforcement said at the time that it had no connection to Ayla's disappearance. It may be as simple as that. Who really knows?
I do tend to agree with you that "Briana is a drug dealing fuck-up that go busted...and she happens to be Courtney's sister". I don't think Courtney should be condemned for the sins of her sister. However, I also don't think it's reasonable to assume that even though she lived in the same building as Briana, and Justin across the street, neither of them were aware of her activities. IF the initial media reports are accurate regarding Briana's arrest, it was complaints from "neighbors" in the first place about the activity going on that lead the police to investigate. It's hard to believe neighbors would notice but friends and family living nearby wouldn't.
The only thing pertinent about that to me, is how and if it impacted Ayden's safety, which reflects on Courtney's decision making process. I think it is MORE pertinent to evaluate Trista's ability to make sound decisions about Ayla's while on drugs and alcohol, given her direct motive for taking Ayla, but no stone should be left unturned, I guess, is my point.
That last sentence should have said "about Ayla", not "about Ayla's". I had originally used the word "safety" after "Ayla's", but realized I meant ALL decisions about Ayla, and edited out "safety". I forgot to fix "Ayla's" though. (Yes, grammar is important to me. lol)
Deleteactually since it appeared that courtney was one of aylas caregivers on weekends i think her decisions in regards to child safety should be held to the fire. if she thought nothing of her own child being exposed to drug seeking junkies, she sure as hell didnt give a shit about the safety of a little girl whose mother she despised. i have my suspicions Briona did in fact have contact with ayla. did ayla get into her drugs?
DeleteFan of Truth and Common Sense : " Briana is a drup dealing fuck-up that got busted ... and she happens to be Courtney's sister." I don't think Courtney should be condemned for the sins of her sister.
DeleteWhere to start?
1. Briana, drug dealing sister of Courtney, had so much 'traffic' that neighbor(s) .... more than one called the police to complain. Read that twice so I don't have to repeat it. Courtney and Briana, I'm sure visited each others apartments. They are sisters after all. And, you actually believe Courtney did not know. lol
2. I don't think Courtney should be condemned for the 'sins' of her sister. 'centering myself, before I respond'. Ok, there thats better. I guess its ok to condemn Trisha's sister, mother, brother, friends, step-father and every person she knows because her child was reported missing from her fathers house and LE concluded : the three in the house, Justin, Courtney, and Elisha are not forthcoming with all they know. Alya's blood was spilled in the basement where the father slept in close proximity to his bed and he will not explain how it got there. But, Courtney should not be condemned for the sins of her sister, eh. Courtney Roberts is being condemned for her own sins. Whether it be : Courtney is responsible for Ayla's disappearance or someone else in 'that house'. She knows exactly what happened and is not talking. Therefore, She is in part, responsible and will be charged along with the other two (or) five. Heidi, Derek and Angela ...
Leave, I quickly read your last sentence as "Did Ayla get her into drugs?", and I thought, "huh?". lol. I do see your point. I'm not ready to make the leap that Courtney did not care about her son's safety or Ayla's, or that Ayla got into Briana's drugs, but I do agree that the actions and judgment of all those who were close to Ayla should be fully examined with a critical (objective) eye.
DeleteExcuse, me "Anonymous" at 5:50 pm, did you actually READ, what I wrote?? I SAID (and I'm quoting myself here, so YOU might want to take another breath, and "center" yourself before you read, so you can "read it twice".)
Delete"However, I also don't think it's reasonable to assume that even though she (Courtney)lived in the same building as Briana, and Justin across the street, neither of them were aware of her activities. IF the initial media reports are accurate regarding Briana's arrest, it was complaints from "neighbors" in the first place about the activity going on that lead the police to investigate. It's hard to believe neighbors would notice but friends and family living nearby wouldn't."
I DIDN'T say I believe Courtney did not know. I said the exact opposite.
Further I was quoting McKee, with the sentence that began "Briana is a drug dealing fuck up" so that I could explain my take on that (which is NOT how you interpreted it). Further I went on to state that I thought it was important to examine all of those close to Ayla, regardless of which side of the family they had ties to. As for the rest of your comment (all of point two). I haven't condemned anyone, nor do I intend to. I'm not sure what about what I said was so difficult to understand, but you entirely missed my point, which was that ALL angles should be looked at.
Finally, I'm not perfect, nor do I pretend to be, but I have tried very hard to be respectful every time I have commented here. When I've disagreed with something, I have not attacked the person who I disagreed with, but kept my responses about the actual topic. Your response to me was borderline disrespectful, and I don't think it was called for.
Anon 5:50...Fan was quoting ME. Your issue is with MY comments.
DeleteI am NOT giving Courtney a pass in Ayla's disappearance. Far from it. Courtney places herself in the house when Ayla disappeared. She has not been cleared as a suspect.
Personally, I just don't see a connection between Briana Roberts and Ayla Reynolds. I still have not received that link that states that Courtney and Ayden were living with Briana. Still waiting for it...
I am NOT condemning all of Trista's family...I do have questions, though. Why did Jessica lose her children? I think that is a legit question. It is a confidential matter...that I get. But a natural question to pose, especially seeing as Jessica and Becca were caring for Ayla before Justin stepped in. Doubt that arrangement was DHHS-approved.
I do not take Lance's word of seeing the "whole" Reynolds family smoking crack behind the restaurant. I don't take the rumor that Ronnie Jr. is a crack-head as a fact. All hearsay in my book.
I reserve the right to raise my eyebrows at Ray Fortier, Trista's so-called fiance, and his admission to snorting shit with his mother before the arson. That was Trista's man, and her son's father.
What do I know? Jack-squat. Brian's drug-dealing may very well play a part in Ayla's fate. Just because I don't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there.
Trista hangs her star on a drug-abusing arsonist and Courtney has a sister that gets busted. Trista chose her man, Courtney didn't choose her sibling.
well-stated, mckee
Delete@Fan of Truth and Common Sense: Duly noted. That comment was intended for someone else. I was planning to comment to your post to say I agreed with you and comment to another post also and mistakely posted the wrong one to you. sorry about that :)
DeleteThanks, Anon, 8:08.

DeleteTrista's family members her sister who lost all three of her children to DHHS, her mom who we have learned does do drugs , were very active care takers of Ayla which Trista allowed. Trista's brother allegedly sold crack out of her apartment. Her boyfriend did burn down a building with innocent people in it and Trista did still live with him and was engaged to him and was going to have him raise Ayla, her father did not have anything to do with Ayla before she disappeared and in fact would not even allow Trista in his home. These are the people in Trista's life and these are facts. They do reflect on the choices Trista makes and who she allows in her life and her children's.
Did Trista have issues ? Yes, even she admitted it and went into rehab to seek help. In my opinion, Courtney's family is far worst. Trista abused drugs, ( too much alcohol comsumption alters the chemicals in the brain) Courtney's family member sold them. Dealing drugs is illegal , and you know what comes with that. MORE CRIME. These are the people in Justin's life and these are FACTS. You are correct: They too, reflect on the choices Justin makes and who he allowed in his and his child's life. Sorry Anon 10/21/12 10:59 AM : No matter how you try to condemn Trista's family ... Trista's brother ALLEGEDLY sold crack out of her apartment and how she, her sister and mom was such bad mothers. It does not take from the FACTS that Courtney's sister has been convicted of drug trafficing and Ayla is missing on Justin's dime.
Deleteactually Justin is normally clean shaven. Look at the picture at the Airshow.
ReplyDeleteANNON SAYS "Has Brianna Roberts officially been charged with a crime yet? We don't know what her crime was other than possession of drugs. She could have been a girlfriend holding them and not trafficking them. Still not okay and pretty stupid but was she herself selling them? Do we know this? I am just curious. I personally am not a fan of "convicting" without all the facts."
ReplyDeleteWould you hold 1000 pills for a friend?? She was not doing anyone a favor including herself!!!!
i heard she hade them stuffed in baggies concealed in her bra and panties. did someone tip her off the feds were on the way? WHO KNEW?
ReplyDeleteJustin and Courtney, duh. Ms. Courtney is not as innocense as she portray herself to be.
Deletehow did courtny know the cops were on their way, does she have a friend from HS in LE. did dhe call bri and then bri stuffed the shit in her undies and then folded like a cheap suit when they busted her door down, or did Justin turn Bri in because he suspected her and chris brichetto of snatching ayla for insurance justin would keep his trap shut.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Justin, WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT, and the person responsible is given AMMUNITY, he will tell all he knows. What does that tell you? He either knows WHAT happened or HE did what happened. He seems the type that will throw his own mother under the bus. And, he almost did, with that CNN interview. Draw your own conclusions. Better yet, read between the lines when he does speak, which is not very often.
DeleteYou are conflating two separate statements. Also, he said "immunity". There is no such word as "ammunity".
Delete'ammunity' is a typo' good looking out!
Deleteso the real reason justin went to waterville was to get out of the way of the big federal drug bust about to go down accross the street from his apt. perhaps the dea had he and courtney on film going in and out of bri's apt.....
ReplyDeletedid they threaten to kill ayla if he talked, is that why he took out the life ins?
ReplyDeleteObscure/hmmm : You will have to ask Justin why he took out the life insurance on his very young daughter., anywho, I will not be creating a facebook page to comment here. However, I will continue to observe and take mental notes of your ongoing quest to seek justice for Ayla. You and I have often butted heads on different point of views and you seem to have a pet peeve of correcting my grammar :) Still, I respect you greatly, and wish you nothing but the best in life. Finally, I have learned so much from interacting with you these last few months and will miss our lively debates regarding this case. Keep on keeping on. The truth will one day reveal itself.
DeleteYour friendly, nemesis :)
I'm leaving this blog until Obscure is able to monitor comments. The U4A crazies are starting to get to me. We can't discuss anything without a group of ignorant psychos harassing us on here. See ya.
ReplyDeleteMaine Today Media, as of Monday, will require people to log in using their Facebook account when commenting. I will no longer be commenting there.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have decided to stop commenting on Ayla's case altogether. I don't have anything new or helpful to contribute at this point.
Thank you, Obscure, for running this blog. I wish my best to kitty and all who care about Ayla!
Team Truth...wow! I hope Maine Today Media catches hell. I don't have a FB account, nor will I ever.
ReplyDeleteI, too, think it is high time for me to cease commenting on Ayla's case. Obscure and #2 aren't here to keep the trolls at bay, and the entire blog suffers for it. It is unfortunate how one or two anonymous assholes can soil the entire forum.
I strongly disagree that you don't have anything new or helpful to contribute, TT. Your comments have been some of the most informative and intriguing to read.
I have this funny feeling that we'll be crossing paths again, TT. Perhaps when there is some fresh news in this complex case.
Thank you for the kindness you have extended to me these past 10 months. And especially towards Ayla. You are a class act!
TT and mckee, so many people have stopped talking about Ayla. I guess in the grand scheme of things it may not matter if people are talking or not, and it has been over 10 months, but still it saddens me.
DeleteThank you, kitty. I agree that we will cross paths again. I do believe Ayla's case will be solved at some point, or new information released by MSP. I will join in at that time, I am sure! I have always appreciated your feedback and online camaraderie, kitty. We were commenting on the MS almost 24/7 those first few months. YOU are one of Ayla's best online advocates. I will continue to applaud you even thought you can't hear it. :) Plus, I appreciate your sense of humor.
DeleteTT and Mckee, perhaps MTM ought to offer alternative sign-ins, but the trend toward requiring people to sign in is for accountability and extends to much of online media. There have been so many threats, race and sex baiting, privacy violations, etc., in comments on articles that the media is clamping down. Personally I think this is a good thing. If people won't stand by their comments, they ought to think twice about making them.
ReplyDeleteYet the same baiting and bullying can happen now, only offline, when honest and respectful people post respectful opinions and the like with their real names. Takes five seconds to do a look-up with a name and town.
DeleteThis sounds more like a partnership between MTM and FB. And laziness on the part of MTM moderators. "Join FB or you won't be allowed to comment here."
DeleteWhy not require a registered user name and STICK WITH IT. Can't the MTM moderators distinguish between a BS comment designed to inflame and an intelligent comment?
Now the crazies can actually dig into people's lives. And they will. Armed with someone's actual identity, all sorts of damage can be done. Stalking, threats, harrassment...
I made a decision to never join the FB scene. I don't appreciate being required to sign-up to a stupid social media platform that I detest in order to express my opinion on MTM. I don't believe I abuse or hide behind my anomymity.
I have been attacked for my opinions using my moniker, "mckeekitty." Do you really think I'm going to put my real name out there?
Sadly using real names is a slippery slope. Some may not care how it effects themselves but just using your own name as we have seen has been used to bully against Justin or Trista themselves. People take their friends words & actions and use anything they say or do against them. And if that does not work then they can just start making things up and in blog world it can become hard to decipher truth from fiction. And that is when it gets tricky there are many true facts out there that stand on there own. But the made up ones that start to circulate in blog world are what make cases like this dangerous for the people who are in fact innocent. And we in blog world should not get to determine that. And putting words in print that are not true is dangerous and reckless. But we are on an honor system so to speak here in blog world when it comes to that. And the fact is that not all are honorable here. So this is a hard one for me because the anonymity allows for people to do just that. Be more comfortable putting false words out there. But using real names puts real people more at risk in many different ways. I think that you should be able to create an FB acct using a different name though that is not your own if you want to get around this issue. Someone correct me if I am wrong on this?
DeleteI use "facebook disconnect" with firefox which shows me which sites communicate with facebook and I can disable it. MTM is one of those sites, so kitty is right. Less privacy, more information sharing between FB and MTM.
DeleteAlso, I posted on the PPH that the new policy is like a bouncer telling everyone as they come into a bar that they MUST give their first and last name to EVERYONE in the bar to keep it civil, and that they will publish that information on their website along with your picture and statements made.
But yes, you can create a fake FB page but who wants to go through that trouble.
It is a dilemma, for sure.
DeleteMy issue is that MTM already moderates. Some comments take eight hours to post.
Where is the line between accountability for your words and the right to retain your privacy and safety? A very thin one in the age of the internet.
As we all well know, there are some real sickos on message boards and blogs. Especially when the subject regards a missing and presumed deceased toddler. These are the trolls that are going to take delight with this new policy.
I have no intention of becoming Zuckerberg's billionth and one FB member.
Exactly why using anon is the way to go.Really sick people out there who may fall off the blog reality bus and hurt someone in real life. It's as easy as a few key strokes to search everyones private info as has been demonstrated above. There is so much public info available you could really mess with people if you were a wingnut dappleganger.
Delete*Oh look at me, I'm so honest using my real name, I'm not hiding.* Nonsense, you're an idiot and if you have kids, an endangering idiot.I don't think people should be plastering pictures of their kids online either. Safety comes before some bitches on a blog demanding to know who you are to satisfy their own nosiness disease and fill their boring lives with someone to pick on.
Let's not forget how many scum sucking lowlife maggots this case has attracted, and the violent, drug soaked, criminally tarnished friends and family members of those caught in the involvement net.
